This small check ball helps control water flow inside the refrigerator's water/ice system to prevent backflow and ensure proper filling. It restores reliable water seating where valves or distributor ports use a ball-style check. What it does:

  • Acts as a one-way seal to stop water from flowing backward into the supply line or valve bore
  • Helps the ice maker and dispenser fill correctly by allowing water in but not back out
  • Common symptom: intermittent or incomplete ice maker fills
  • Common symptom: slow or continuous dripping from dispenser or valve area
What's included: One check ball. Install notes:
  • Shut off water supply and unplug the appliance before starting
  • Small part — handle carefully and note orientation/seat before removal
  • Inspect valve bores and seals for debris; clean area before installing new check ball

For Frigidaire Check Ball (Water Valve/Ice Maker) (Part Number: OEM6327294)

Dan for Model Number FGIP2468UFOA

Our dishwasher was exposed to salt water intrusion up to about 10”. I have verified after cleaning that the fill valve works and the float switch works. However, the water during fill leaks slightly but continuously out of the drain hose and doesn’t either complete the fill or drains down too far therefore doesn’t complete a wash cycle. Could it be the check valve or the flapper valve? Any other thoughts? The fill pump does have good pressure and it does completely drain once the pump hits the drain cycle. Thanks.

Hello Dan, thank you for contacting Appliance Parts Pros. This may be due to a bad check valve, but the unit having been subjected to saltwater intrusion to that degree may also indicate compromised or failed seals/gaskets.

Jeff, the check ball 154246402 does operate as a diverter for the model provided. If it gets stuck, it can prevent water from diverting to the necessary spray arm. Inspecting the check ball, as well as inspecting the lower spray arm 5304507158 for any clogs or cracks, would be necessary.

Richard, Thanks for the question!!! On this model, both spray arms would operate at the same time. You would want to check for blockages in the spray arm, water feed tube, and sump. A weak wash motor could also lead to this issue.

Richard, There should be a check valve on the drain pump that would possibly be damaged and would want to check to make sure that it is not damaged.

Joe, You will want to check to make sure that the check ball is in place. Make sure that there is 120 vac getting to the drain pump. If there is 120 vac to the pump then this will be a faulty pump and if not then the control board will be the issue.

Lawrence for Model Number fdb510lcs0

My top arm does not seem to move at all. Thank you for your suggestion to check water fill level, filters and impeller. I have checked all this and it seems fine, but water still not coming out of top. It is not a clog in the line. If I manually try to time it, on and off using the door handle, I can sometimes get the water to come out the top. It sounds different. Questions: 1. Could the check ball look fine and still be a problem? Old or defective? waterlogged? Do they need to be replaced every x years or something? Mine is probably the original, over ten years old. 2. Could the switching off and on of the water, which allows the check ball to move to spray the top, be timed wrong and cause it to keep spraying only down? Is there some way to check for this? Thank you very much. Your previous answer: Answer Lawrence, You will want to check the water fill to make sure that the water is filling to the proper level. If the water level is not correct then it will cause the unit build enough pressure to pump water to the upper spray arms. Also check the filters to make sure that they are not dirty and make sure the the impeller is not damaged.

Lawrence, The check ball could be the issue with the unit. There is nothing that is timing the check ball to move and it would not be a bad idea to go ahead and replace the check ball.

Packer Fan for Model Number PLD2850RDC2

Good Afternoon! Working on my Frigidare Dishwasher & I found that it doesn't direct water to the top racks, only the bottom. It would appear that the check valve ball is designed to direct the water to either the upper or lower rack, one rack at a time. Does anyone know if the ball is supposed to switch locations (upper or lower) just from the circulation pump pausing for a moment, or is the pump supposed to reverse directions to accomplish this task? My pump pauses as it should, but the check valve continues to block off the upper racks at all times. If the motor should reverse, it would appear I need to order a new control board. If it is not supposed to reverse, I think I will order a new check valve, housing & spray arms. Thanks for you help!

Hello Packer fan. No, all arms should move in the unit. It sounds like either the filters are dirty or the valve is bad and will need to be replaced. Valve will cause low water in the unit.

Hello Audrey, I searched the factory parts explosion and parts list and didn't fine a grommet in this area of the pump. If you remove it and reassemble the unit. Put a glass in each corner of the upper rack but place them right-side-up. This way they can catch water. When the unit has filled and circulates water for 60 seconds, open the door and make sure the glasses are 1/4 to 1/2 way full of water. This ensures the pump is pumping up to proper pressure.
