Peter December 09, 2018 for Model Number FFEW3025PSC How do I get access to the hidden bake element to replace it?
1 Answer Peter, you will need to pull the oven out and remove it from the back. There will be a panel in front of the element that will have to be removed as well. part number is 318601604 Read More...
William September 21, 2018 for Model Number FPET3085KFB Are there instructions or a video on how to access the 318601604 hidden bake element for the upper oven. The little information points to access from the back of the unit. This is a large and heavy unit and it would seem ridiculous to have to remove it from the wall to access the back panel and such just to replace when other lighter single units have access panel from the front of the oven . . .
1 Answer William, I found no manufacturer data on removal of the element but the unit will need to be pulled and back cover removed to gain access. Remember to kill power to the unit before removal starts. Read More...
Ann November 08, 2017 for Model Number Kenmore 790.48193000 My oven heats but everything burns on the bottom and baking times are very inconsistent. Sometimes it takes things a long times and sometimes they are done way too soon. Would it be the bottom element?
1 Answer Ann, You will want to check the oven sensor which should read 1090 ohms at room temp. If the resistance checks ok then this would most likely be a faulty board with there being such inconsistency. Read More...
Mark January 26, 2017 for Model Number CGEF304DKF2 Client complained that upper oven was not heating properly. Found leads to upper bake element, measured proper voltage going to element. No current. Verified open circuit for element. Ordered new part (318601604)... How the hell do I access the old element to install the new one? I don't seem to see how to access from the back, even with back panel removed. There doesn't seem to be a removable floor panel in the upper oven cavity. Do I go in through the side?
1 Answer Mark, The mini oven bake element is under the oven bottom panel you need to remove power to the range open/remove the mini oven door. You would need to lift from the back of the oven bottom liner in order to get the panel out. Lift up on the panel then slide it toward the back and then lift it out the opening. Read More...

John W. November 07, 2015 for Model Number 790.48143801 Kenmore elite 30" double wall oven Lower oven heats to temp, but then slowly cools (even though the display indicates that the lower element is being used). I've replaced the circuit board and temp sensor. Only thing left is the hidden bake element. Am I correct that I must remove the oven from the cabinet? Is it possible to leave maybe 4" of it in the cabinet, support the front at the sides, and be able to drop the access panel and change out the element that way? Is there any need to access connections or cables behind the rear sheet metal cover of the oven? Anything else I may need to replace associated with changing our a bake element?
1 Answer John, With the unit getting up to temperature would not indicate a bad bake element. This would be more likely the wiring between the control board and the sensor. Also if you replaced the display board then you would want to replace the relay board on the unit. Read More...
Tom August 26, 2015 for Model Number FGMC3065KBA Hi, I have followed the advice given to others, remove power, remove oven from cabinet, remover rear panel etc. but I don't see any access back there for the hidden bake element. I see the wire harness that disappears into the oven's shell. I wonder if there are more detailed instructions on replacing this available? Thanks in advance
1 Answer Hello Tom. On your model, the access panel is in the bottom of the unit. Looking at the diagram it is number 57. You remove that panel to access and replace the element in the unit. Roger May 13, 2015 for Model Number 79047913603 Good morning, I,m trying to replace the upper oven bake element. The hidden one. I pulled it from the wall and removed the back cover but couldn't see how to access the element. Sears advised that the bottom of the oven would come out. Not so, no access from inside. Question is how do you access the element? Part number FR31801604
1 Answer Hello Roger. You'll need to remove power to the unit and remove the oven from the wall in order to remove the rear panel and access the hidden bake element. There is a cover you remove to remove the element from there. You will see the wires going to the element. Thanks. Read More...
