Symptoms of a bad indicator light include:

  • Light not illuminating when the range or oven is in use
  • Flickering or inconsistent illumination

Tom, To replace the indicator light, you will need to pull the unit out from installation. Unplug the unit and remove the cover over the back of the control panel. The indicator light will be located here and you would unclip from the lens and clip the new one on.

Hello Duane, You need to check the door switch 316445501 and the connections to it. If the switch is broken, it will require replacement. If the connections are shorted together, you will need to correct the electrical connections so they do not contact one another.

Lisa H for Model Number GLGF386DCG

Hi all,you were very helpful in assisting me with replacing my clock timer, worked like a charm. Fantastic site. Unfortunately, we jostled the red "Speed Bake" Indicator Light (Part AP2124115) inadvertently while replacing the control panel/timer and cannot seem to figure out how to get it back in place. The stove only has small hole where the red indicator light goes (to right and top of control panel when facing back of stove). The part (which includes the red plastic indicator and actual lightbulb behind it) appears to be supposed to clip onto something to hold in place, but there is nothing to clip it onto. We tried to remove the red light and insert from front and it falls thru when you try to attach back to the white box on the other side. If you try to insert from back to front, nothing is able to hold the light assembly into place. Any ideas that might help us? Thanks you very much--again your sight is really fablulous. Given the great advice you shared to fix original problem, I thought I'd check in before I resorted to "superglue" or "duct tape" and see if you had run across this issue before?

Lisa, The red indicator is the light lens 5304462665 and should be pushed in from the front and the light would clip to it. If it is falling through then you will need a new light lens.

Hello Gene. That is correct. If the light is not working, then the switch may need to be replaced on the unit and not the light.

Rob, Sorry, but no replacing the "hot surface" indicator light, will not solve the issue with the oven. You do need to remove the control panel rear cover panel and check for damaged wires in the control panel and make sure you have the proper power supply to the range. These are two separate, individual circuits, and the L1 circuit/wire is the common link at this point. Unless you have two issues as a coincidence. Good Luck and Thanks
