The Icemaker Assembly is an OEM part for Frigidaire refrigerators. This assembly is responsible for producing and dispensing ice cubes, ensuring that you always have a steady supply of ice for your beverages or food storage needs.

Causes of a bad Icemaker Assembly include mechanical wear and tear that affects the ice ejector arms or the heating element that loosens the ice, and electronic failures that impair the control module's ability to regulate the ice-making process.

Symptoms of a bad Icemaker Assembly include:

  • Failure to produce ice
  • Producing small or misshapen ice cubes
  • Leaking water in the freezer compartment
  • Unusual noises during the ice-making cycle

Fits many Frigidaire side-by-side refrigerators where the icemaker mounts to the back wall of the freezer compartment.

If you experience an issue with the arm hitting the shelf, you may also need to replace the shelf due to manufacturer changes; part number 241691701,

Rob, the freezer should be set to where it is at 0°F when measured by a thermometer. As the icemaker was able to harvest when water was set into it, was there a humming that came from the valve after it dumped the ice? If not, the failure would be in the ice maker 241798231. If there was humming, the fill tube would need to be inspected for ice clogging the line and clearing as necessary.

Jesus, the manufacturer does not list an alternative from the recommended ice maker 5303918344. The ice maker comes with the front cover already installed.

Alan, Thanks for the question!!! This icemaker has no adjustment for cube size. Check the water flow through the water valve as that could be the more likely issue.

Jack, the water supply would not need to be turned off. However, it would be recommended that the power supply to the refrigerator is unplugged before replacing the ice maker as this will prevent the main control from possibly becoming damaged during the repair.

Jack Walsh for Model Number FFHS2622MS3

Icemaker stopped making ice for a long time. Decided we needed to have it work. Water dispenser on door works fine. When I pushed and held the on/off switch on the ice maker for 15 seconds, it rotated the ejector, and pushed out 3 pieces of ice. I then closed the door. When I opened it a few minutes later, water was running out of the ice maker. When I turned the switch to off, the water stopped. The door water still works. If I turn the ice maker switch to on, the water runs out again. What is going on? What controls the flow of water to the ice maker tray? What do I need to replace??? HELP!!!!

1 Answer

Jack, Because the water valve turns off when the icemaker is shut off then this would be an issue with the icemaker that would need to be replaced.

Hello David, You will need to order and install a diode kit 5303918287 to prevent this issue. Shorted diode: When you activate the dispenser and water comes out both the dispenser and ice maker fill tube, the harness needs to be replaced. 1. Disconnect the power cord 2. Remove connector from single coil valve and remove the dark blue and yellow wires from the Molex connector. 3. Cut the two dark blue wires about 1" from the diode. (The diodes are inside the black heat shrink that the blue wire with yellow tracer goes into one end and the 2 blue and 2 yellow wires come out the other end) 4. Cut the yellow wire about 1" from diodes 5. Remove old diode subassembly. 6. The 2 blue wires cut in step 3 need to attaché to the brown wire in the new diode harness with the connector provided. Slide the heat shrink over the wire first, install the connector and slide the heat shrink over the connector and heat to seal the connector. 7. The 2 yellow wires cut in step 3 need to be attached to the yellow wire in the new diode harness with the connector provided. Slide the heat shrink over the wire first, install the connector and slide the heat shrink over the connector and heat to seal the connector.

Fernando, the rocker switch of the ice maker will sit in the middle position when the ice maker is turned on. Pressing and holding it at the on position causes a forced harvest. The ice maker rocker switch is operating properly.

Hello Jerry, You will need to order and install a diode kit 5303918287 to correct this issue. This kit may be used for the replacement of diodes in ice and water-side by sides with a water filter. The diodes are part of the main harness. Thre is a black insulator that protects the diodes. The diodes are located on the wire that goes to the inlet valve (#1 single coil valve), Approximately 4" away from the valve. Testing Shorted diode: When you activate the dispenser and water comes out both the dispenser and ice maker fill tube, the harness needs replaced. Open Diode: If the icemaker diode fails open, the single water valve will not energize when the icemkaer is activated. If the dispenser diode fails open, the single valve will not energize when the dispenser is activated. Equipment needed: Voltmeter. 1. Activate dispenser, then check to see if there is voltage to the dispenser valve (Yellow Coil of the dual valve should have close to line voltage) and check the inlet valve (single valve #1 can be tan or green, should have 54 to 78 VAC) If no voltage to both the inlet valve (Single valve) and the dispenser valve (Yellow Coil) then : A. Check the freezer door wiring connector. B. Check the dispenser connections. If there is voltage to the dispenser valve (Yellow Coil) and not to the inlet valve (Single Valve) replace the diode harness. 2. Activate Ice maker (Check during icemaker fill, which is about 7.5 seconds), then check to see if there is voltage to Icemaker valve (Green Coil of the dual valve should have 95 to 105 vac) and check the inlet valve (Single valve #1 can be tan or green should have 42 to 58 VAC) If there is voltage to the icemaker valve (Green Coil) and not to inlet valve (Single Valve) Replace the diode harness. Replacement of Diode on Refrigerators with the single-coil valve by the condenser fan and two valves by the compressor: 1. Disconnect the power cord. 2. Remove the connector from the single-coil valve and remove the dark blue and yellow wires from the Molex connector. 3. Cut the two dark blue wires about 1" from the diode. (The diodes are inside the black heat shrink that the blue wire with yellow tracer goes into one end and the 2 blue and 2 yellow wires come out the other end). 4. Cut the yellow wire about 1" from diodes. 5. Remove old diode subassembly. 6. The 2 blue wires cut in step 3 need to be attached to the brown wire in the new diode harness with the connector provided. Slide the heat shrink over the wire first, install the connector and slide the heat shrink over connector and heat to seal the connector. 7. The 2 yellow wires cut in step 3 need to be attached to the yellow wire in the new diode harness with the connector provided. Slide the heat shrink over the wire first, install the connector and slide the heat shrink over connector and heat to seal the connector.
