Jer for Model Number westinghouse

Hi, I have a gas westinghouse dryer. The dryer will turn on, and ignites and burns for a couple minutes, but then the flame will go out but the dryer itself will keep running. If I turn it off and wait about 30 min. and try it again the same thing will happen, it will ignite, but then the flame will go off after a couple minutes (flame goes out all at once). I initially thought this was the flame sensor, and replaced it with a new one, but it is still doing the same thing. What else could be the issue? I would think since it is igniting it wouldnt be the ignitor, maybe some other part?

Michelle, You will first want to check the venting of your unit. If the vent is clogged it will take longer periods of time to dry the clothes due to the moisture has no path to escape. If the venting checks ok then it sounds like the cycling thermostat may be faulty and need to be replaced.

Jim, You will want to check to make sure that the venting from the blower wheel to the outside of the home is clear. If the venting is restricted it will cause the cycling thermostat to open too rapidly not allowing the unit to heat properly.

Brigitte P for Model Number DE27S6DPMC

Gibson Heavy Duty - antique :-) Belt broke, called repairman. Had a hard time getting cover off finally jerked it off. Right knob "Regular, Low and Airfluff....has red wires behind it. Turned it on after he put belt on, drum turned, but no heat on "Regular" . there is heat on low and airfluff is just that, airfluff. What part do I need? From looking at the Service Data sheet (and yes, I still have that). It could be the regular Heat Thermostat. No problem with the switch, just not heating on Regular. When I have it on Low, I usually have the left switch on "Dry Time". thank you,

Bridgitte, Based on the description, it does sound like this is going to be a bad regular thermostat. You will want to double check all the wiring. Unfortunately the thermostats on unit have been discontinued with no manufacturer replacement.

Hello Danny, You will want to check the resistance of the coils of the dryer. Also check for amp draw on the ignitor. Ignitor should read between 3.2 and 3.6 amps.

Hello David, For the noise issue with the washer you will want to make sure that the pump 131268401 is clean and does not have anything in it causing noise. If the pump checks ok then you would have a bad bearing 131525500 on the washer. The dryer issue sounds like a timer failure 131710100.

Hello Jack, Try to clean the sensor bars with alcohol and run unit. This will clean the bars from any film that may be on them from fabric sheets. Also if you are using autodry the unit will shut off when it senses the clothes being dry. You can check your sensor board and bar by doing a restistance check between the 2 red wires of the sensor bar. When you measure resistance you will want to put wet clothes across the sensor bar. If you read open line then replace the sensor bars 5303281135. If you read between 100,000 and 200,000 ohms you would want to replace the sensor control board 134216300.
