James A August 28, 2016 for Model Number 2539218750 serial # S526185940 Model # How can I get to evaporator in order to check thermal unit that works the mullion heater. I see no screws in order to pull the inner shell out. Any suggestions that I could trouble shoot without taking that part out? The defrost timer seems to be working but there is a sheet of ice at the bottom of the back wall. This freezer usually runs at 10 Degrees or zero at times. Its up to 30 degrees now and doesn't cool down any farther. Thank you fore your time with my problem, James
1 Answer James, There are 3 screws on the floor of the unit and 4 screws across the top of the freezer panel in the back of the freezer interior that you would remove in order to take that panel off. You may have to chip the ice out in order for the panel to come off. As for what may be causing this would be a frozen drain that has collected ice up to the point that it is blocking the return air flow which is not allowing the air to circulate through the unit. 1 Answer D. Jones, You will want to check the coils behind the panel inside the unit and see if they are impacted with frost. If they are then test the defrost thermostat and defrost heater to see if they have continuity. If they check ok for continuity then the issue will be a faulty defrost timer 0RJ2003C478. The coils should have a even frost pattern from top to bottom. If they do not and there is only a little frost where the lines come into the unit then the issue will be a sealed system failure in which you will need to have a service tech to repair. Read More...

Joe February 03, 2016 for Model Number PLRU1778ES0 Just replaced Timer Defrost #297318010 and wanted to know how do I adjust the dial to determine where it should be set? There are two notches, one at 9 oclock and one at 10 oclock. Where should the mechanism be turned to? It came out of the box at 10 oclock, however, the motor/fan has not stopped running at that setting. Do we need to adjust it, or leave it as it came? The coils in the back panel frost over with this setting - is this normal? Thank you.
1 Answer Joe, The 9 o clock setting is for the unit to go into the defrost cycle and the 10 oclock setting is for it to come out of defrost. This is a 12 hour timer so it will only go into defrost every 12 hours of operation. 1 Answer Carolyn, You will want to check the evaporator assembly to see if the coils are impacted with ice. If they are impacted then you will want to test the defrost thermostat and defrost heater. If the coils are not impacted with ice and have a good even frost pattern from top to bottom then the thermostat would be the issue. Wayne June 24, 2015 for Model Number FFU1764DW1 Sometimes my freezer works and sometimes it doesn't. When I go to grab something out of the freezer sometimes it is frozen solid and other times it is soft and the ice cubes are melted. If I turn the knob from cold to colder or vice verse, the motor kicks on and starts blowing out cold air. But 3 hours later everything is soft again.

1 Answer Jerry, While it is possible that the defrost timer could be making the noise, it is unlikely that it would have stopped when the door was opened. You will want to check for possible vibration of the condenser coils on the back of the unit if there are coils. Also check for vibration of refrigerant lines.
