For Ge Refrigerator Ice Maker Assembly (Part Number: OEM20674845)

Scott S. for Model Number 363.58472890

I have an ice maker problem. The part number in question is WR30X0328. Water is being filled in the unit way too often causing it to overflow. I do not know if the ice cube maker calls for the water or does something in the refrigerator does. I know the water valve is working well because the water is called for and then stops. So my first question is does this sound like an ice maker problem? The other question is about the replacement you offer. My unit has a fill cup on the far right side which is filled by a tube from the back. I can understand how this unit will work as a replacement for mine. How is that accomplished. I know I could not accommodate the fill cup in the location shown in the video because there is no room as the ice maker is mounted to the back of the fridge. Thank you.

Hello Scott, This issue can be a sticking switch in the icemaker or a water valve going into failure. Either one could cause an over-fill situation. There could also be a water pressure fluctuation from the home plumbing that would cause the water valve to close too slowly. This would cause an overfill intermittently. As far as making the new ice maker work, there is an instruction sheet with it that explains how to put the fill flume in either of two locations.

Rich, On the side of the icemaker there is a plug. Remove the plug and turn the adjustment screw counterclockwise 1/2 turn.

Water is slowly leaking into ice maker fill tube and fill cup when water dispenser is activated. Result is that water is freezing in the bottom of the fill cup. After about a week the fill tube is completely blocked with an ice plug and the fill tube pulls off of part #270 on the back of the freezer and water runs down the back of the freezer compartment. I have removed fill tube and melted the ice in fill cup with hair dryer to clear ice. Problem repeats.

Steve, Yes, a broken or loose feeler paddle on the ice maker could make the ice maker inoperative. The updated/revised ice maker WR30X10093 will be quite an upgrade and more dependable a system.

Hello Debbie. The model number you provided is not showing a filter. If there is none, in the unit, you may need to replace the icemaker.
