The Icemaker is an OEM part for GE refrigerators. It is designed to produce ice cubes by automatically filling the ice mold with water, freezing it, and then ejecting the ice into the ice bucket. This part ensures a steady supply of ice for your household needs.

Causes of a bad icemaker can include mechanical wear and tear, electrical failures, or issues with the water supply. Over time, the icemaker’s components can degrade, leading to inconsistent ice production or complete failure.

Symptoms of a bad icemaker include:

  • No ice production
  • Small, misshapen, or hollow ice cubes
  • Ice maker not ejecting ice
  • Unusual noises from the ice maker

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

For Ge Icemaker (Part Number: OEM20674845)

John R. for Model Number GFSS2HCYHSS

My original icemaker started having problems while I was away on vacation. My mother was house sitting and said that water leaked all over the floor. She defrosted the freezer for me and when I got home the ice maker was switched off. After reading and testing, I was able to get one batch of ice and then the led light went out. Reading online led me to believe that the ice maker had gone bad. I just replaced it with model number wr30x10093. The old ice maker had ice in the tray, with larger cubes than normal. The freezer is empty for testing, and I noticed that water was collecting in the ice tray and the bottom of the freezer. There are made cubes in the ice maker tray that will not dump. Water has been collecting on top of the ice there and the "rake" part is frozen to the existing ice. The rake did move for a manual cycle earlier, but not I can't move it. Could the problem be with the heating element, and if so could there be a wiring issue in the freezer itself that led to the problem with both units? This new unit does not have any LED indicator.

Hello John, This sounds like there could be an issue with the water valve WR57X10086 or there is an insufficient water pressure supplied to the water valve. I would replace the water valve and thaw out the icemaker with a hair dryer and let it start over. There should be a minimum of about 50 PSI of water pressure supplied to the water and it should not exceed 100 PSI for optimum performance.

Amy, You will want to disconnect the water line at the door hinge and then push the dispenser for water to see if water will come out at the hinge from under the unit. If there is then this will be a frozen fill tube and would need to replace the door to correct this issue. If there is no water that comes out then the water valve will be the most likely cause for this issue.

Ken, The ice maker fill cup can be put on the end of the icemaker or the center back of the icemaker. This is to accommodate different designs.

Matt for Model Number WR30X10093

Hi. I replaced my icemaker about a year ago. Last month, broken pieces of white plastic started coming out with my ice cubes. I investigated and found that a part (not sure what it's called- the white piece that had been hinged in front with seven protrusions, I assume to separate the cubes from the freezing element?) had come loose and been crushed by the corkscrew that carries ice into the chute. Now the icemaker has stopped working. The last batch of cubes is still sitting there, frozen solid to the icemaker. Can I buy just the part that broke and replace it? Is there likely a deeper root cause?

Marcy, It sounds like the slide may have broken tabs on it for it to slide off and would not be able to be put back on but would have to replace the icemaker for this issue.

Wil, If the icemaker fingers stop and it keeps filling then the issue will most likely be a stuck water valve. If the fingers do not make it to the stopping point which should be about the 9 oclock position then the icemaker would need to be replaced.

Kristen, With this issue the most likely cause for this will be that the dispenser control board is faulty and would need to be replaced.

Bill, The 30 volts would be normal getting to the water valve and would not cause the water valve to stay open. If the fill tube is freezing you will want to make sure that the temp in the freezer is not getting too cold.
