Alvin, you may want to check to ensure that the valve is receiving 120VAC when the dispenser is engaged. If it is receiving the voltage when the dispenser is engaged, then you may want to check if water will come through the line by removing the water line connector at the bottom of the door and running it into a bowl or cup while engaging the dispenser. If water comes through, then you may have a frozen water line which you can test the dispenser heater by going to the J4 connector on the display control and testing from pin 6 to pin 2 for 144 ohms. If the reading is not 144 ohms, then you have a bad dispenser heater. If water does not come out of the line when the dispenser is engaged, then you have either a bad valve, frozen water reservoir in the refrigerator section, or a bad filter (if the icemaker is producing low or no ice).

One of the push buttons controlling the dispensing of the ice on the front control panel on my GE side by side refrigerator has split. The plastic covering the button has cracked in at least two places, however, the button still functions. Is there a way of replacing or repairing the plastic covering without replacing the entire front control panel? I am told the part number for that panel is WR55X10415, but I am not certain. The edges of the splits appear to be getting sharper with use and I am concerned that someone may cut their fingers if it gets any worse. If the panel needs to be replaced, how do I go about doing so?

Ice/water dispenser works perfect periodically, then mysteriously stops. Starts again and works for a while, then stops again. When the dispenser works, both ice and water work perfectly. When not working, water mode does nothing but ice mode will trigger a) ice door opening b) auger turn for fraction of second c) ice door closes. Used to work perfectly for several weeks then fail as above for several weeks; back and forth. Now failure sequence is constant. Ice maker works perfectly fine.

Jake, The first thing to check would be the wiring at the bottom of the door to make sure that there is no damaged wires. If this checks ok then the dispenser board would likely be the issue with the unit.

Hello blackjack. Make sure the water line is not frozen in the door. If not, you will most likely need to order and replace the water valve on the unit.

Ann, You will want to check the connector at the bottom of the door at the hinge to make sure that there is no loose or damaged wires If this checks ok then test to make sure that there is 120 vac getting to the auger motor. If there is but will not turn then the auger motor is bad.
