Dixit P., Normally on a RO system there are 3 filters. 2 should be changed about every 6 months and the 3rd once a year. Make sure that you replace all the filters with the correct filters. Unfortunately we do not have any other information about RO systems.

Tonya, The best way to determine if the filter is the cause would be to either put a new filter in or to put the bypass plug in to check it. If the filter is more than 6 months old, you would want to replace the filter on the unit regardless of whether the issue is the filter or something else.

Don, This is normal. The residual charcoal inside the filter will flow through the water system until it is flushed out. It usually takes two to three gallons of water to clear the system. Next time you may want to flush the new filter under the kitchen faucet or in a bucket before you install it.
