Questions & Answers

For Ge Refrigerator Water Filter (Part Number: OEM17364564)

Walter, You will want to disconnect the tube at the bottom of the freezer door behind the kickplate, have a towel available for excess water. Put the unit dispenser on water setting and push the lever. If water comes from the tubing that comes from under the unit then the issue will be a frozen fill tube inside the freezer door. Unfortunately this water tube is not available separately, it is foamed into the door, and the door would need to be replaced. The cause of this would be a void in the insulation of the door combined with cold temperature in the freezer causes ice to build up around the fill tube and then causes the fill tube to freeze up.

Tonya, The best way to determine if the filter is the cause would be to either put a new filter in or to put the bypass plug in to check it. If the filter is more than 6 months old, you would want to replace the filter on the unit regardless of whether the issue is the filter or something else.
