Mike August 20, 2015 Replaced filter and after a few days the water stops dispensing. Checked filter and can see frozen water inside the top. Let it thaw and the water flows only to freeze again in a few days. Tried another filter and same thing happens. Could this be the water filter head?
1 Answer Mike, The water filter head isn't likely. The water is freezing because there's cold air being directed toward it from the freezer. You need to check the damper assembly to see that it opens and closes properly, and make sure there's nothing blocking or redirecting the air flow at the filter head and filter. Read More...
1 Answer Hello Jesse. Make sure you bleed all the air from the lines in the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube is not frozen on the unit. Read More...
Frustrated With New Filter July 16, 2015 Just installed new GE filter, water coming out warm, whats the problem? Thanks
1 Answer Hello. It will take about an hour for the water to cool off inside the unit. This is due to purging the air from the system. Read More...
Chris W. July 14, 2015 I just replaced the MWF water filter. Flow from the water dispenser was fine before the replacement. Now, a spurt of water will come out and then flow decreases dramatically and at times nothing comes out. When I looked at the water in the glass from the dispenser, there was odd looking debris in it. Thoughts of what the problem may be? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Chris, The filter could be defective or, if you have not run about 2 gallons of water through it as recommended by the manufacturer, it could be charcoal and air in the filter that has yet to be purged. Another consideration for the weak flow could be a failure of the valve in the filter head that the filter attaches to in the fresh food compartment. Read More...
Richard July 14, 2015 for Model Number GE Artica Profile I replaced my GE Smartwater filter and now when getting water from the dispenser, water dribbles out after the dispenser lever clicks off and the cup is removed from the dispenser. Water flow is good. I then took out the new filter and put in the original filter and the water dribbling is the same. Before the change, the water would cease immediately after the dispenser lever clicked off. This happened immediately after replacing the filter. I flowed 1-2 gallons through each filter after changing. What did I do to mess this up?
1 Answer Richard, With the dispenser having a dripping to it, it sounds like there may still be air in the lines. Try to run several gallons of water more through it and then if it continues to drip then you will want to replace the water valve as it is not closing all the way. Read More...
Anthony July 05, 2015 for Model Number ZISS420DRISS I changed my water filter and it leaks a little bit of water. I ran water thru it the ran for 2 gallons of water and it still leaks. I had placed a cup and left it over night and when I did that it almost filled the cup. What is wrong?
1 Answer Hello Anthony, If there is no air in the system there must be a bad water valve WR57X33326 or the water tank WR17X11176 has been connected backwards. Read More...
Joel June 04, 2015 I have replaced my GSWF filter several times without an issue. I just changed it and the water dispenser is getting good flow after purging the system for a few minutes, but there is now a noise coming from the dispenser, not the filter, that wasn't there before. Since it wasn't there before the filter change, should I assume I installed a bad filter?
1 Answer Hello Joel. This is a sign that the filter head is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. Read More...
1 Answer Hello Tiny, If you can hear sounds when trying to dispense water, the issue is most likely the water valve WR57X33326. If no sound is detected, the issue is likely to be a linkage or bracket in the dispense area of the door and will have to be checked for mechanical failures. Read More...
