Frustrated With New Filter July 16, 2015 Just installed new GE filter, water coming out warm, whats the problem? Thanks
1 Answer Hello. It will take about an hour for the water to cool off inside the unit. This is due to purging the air from the system. Read More...
Chris W. July 14, 2015 I just replaced the MWF water filter. Flow from the water dispenser was fine before the replacement. Now, a spurt of water will come out and then flow decreases dramatically and at times nothing comes out. When I looked at the water in the glass from the dispenser, there was odd looking debris in it. Thoughts of what the problem may be? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Chris, The filter could be defective or, if you have not run about 2 gallons of water through it as recommended by the manufacturer, it could be charcoal and air in the filter that has yet to be purged. Another consideration for the weak flow could be a failure of the valve in the filter head that the filter attaches to in the fresh food compartment. Read More...
Richard July 14, 2015 for Model Number GE Artica Profile I replaced my GE Smartwater filter and now when getting water from the dispenser, water dribbles out after the dispenser lever clicks off and the cup is removed from the dispenser. Water flow is good. I then took out the new filter and put in the original filter and the water dribbling is the same. Before the change, the water would cease immediately after the dispenser lever clicked off. This happened immediately after replacing the filter. I flowed 1-2 gallons through each filter after changing. What did I do to mess this up?
1 Answer Richard, With the dispenser having a dripping to it, it sounds like there may still be air in the lines. Try to run several gallons of water more through it and then if it continues to drip then you will want to replace the water valve as it is not closing all the way. Read More...
Anthony July 05, 2015 for Model Number ZISS420DRISS I changed my water filter and it leaks a little bit of water. I ran water thru it the ran for 2 gallons of water and it still leaks. I had placed a cup and left it over night and when I did that it almost filled the cup. What is wrong?
1 Answer Hello Anthony, If there is no air in the system there must be a bad water valve WR57X33326 or the water tank WR17X11176 has been connected backwards. Read More...
Joel June 04, 2015 I have replaced my GSWF filter several times without an issue. I just changed it and the water dispenser is getting good flow after purging the system for a few minutes, but there is now a noise coming from the dispenser, not the filter, that wasn't there before. Since it wasn't there before the filter change, should I assume I installed a bad filter?
1 Answer Hello Joel. This is a sign that the filter head is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. Read More...
1 Answer Hello Tiny, If you can hear sounds when trying to dispense water, the issue is most likely the water valve WR57X33326. If no sound is detected, the issue is likely to be a linkage or bracket in the dispense area of the door and will have to be checked for mechanical failures. Read More...

Walter P May 06, 2015 for Model Number PSHS6PGZBESS I have a GE profile refrigerator problem is not despensing water. I've replaced the water inlet valve and it didn't resolve the problem. Have observed that the filter doesn't fill when installed. Water pressure is fine and hasn't changed. Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks
1 Answer Walter, You will want to disconnect the tube at the bottom of the freezer door behind the kickplate, have a towel available for excess water. Put the unit dispenser on water setting and push the lever. If water comes from the tubing that comes from under the unit then the issue will be a frozen fill tube inside the freezer door. Unfortunately this water tube is not available separately, it is foamed into the door, and the door would need to be replaced. The cause of this would be a void in the insulation of the door combined with cold temperature in the freezer causes ice to build up around the fill tube and then causes the fill tube to freeze up.
