For Ge Oven Temperature Sensor Assembly (Part Number: OEM17861322)

Thomas for Model Number JB645DK2WW

2 questions: I have 2 GE electric ranges 1. My JB645DK2WW oven prE flashes on and off with a clicking sound from the control panel and the oven elements don't heat up. Oven doesn't work in Bake or Broil modes. The top burners and control panel other functions all work fine. Is the most likely problem the temperature sensor? 2. My JBP79AB4AA oven temperature sensor replacement is much more expensive than the replacement temperature sensor for the JB645DK2WW, are they interchangeable? and why the difference in price?

1 Answer

Thomas, The clicking noise you are hearing is most likely a relay on the board. That would make sense as to why the bake or broil doesn't work and your top burners do not use the board for anything. WB27X45466 is the control with green led and WB27X45466 is the control with white led. The part WB21X22134 will fit either model also.

Manu D for Model Number PT925DN2BB

I have a GE Double Oven Model # PT925DN2BB. It's electric and all digital. Both Upper and Lower ovens don't heat up at all. In both, Bake and Broil settings it shows PRE 100F and sounds like fan is running and continues to blow cold air but Temp does not go up at all and heating elements remain cold, even left it for 15-20 minutes. No error codes are displayed. All other displays seem to work well. Any help will certainly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Manu, With both ovens not working then test power supply coming into the unit for 240 vac. If there is proper power then check for 120 vac out of the double relay WB18T10352 as this is the common part that would supply one leg of power to both boards and to both upper and lower oven.

Charles, When you put the oven into a bake mode, you should read 120 volts AC at the igniter, it the voltage is there and it does not glow, replace the igniter. If it glows, check for 3.4-3.6 Volts AC at the safety valve. You would check between the yellow and white wires. If the correct voltage is there and the gas valve does not open up, replace the gas safety valve. If the voltage is 2.9 Volts AC or less, replace the weak igniter.

Frank817 for Model Number GE Profile JTP16GV2

Have a GE Profile wall oven JTP16GV2 with no past operational issues. When went to use recently, it began constant “beeping” and flashing alternating “probe” and “bake.” No functions would work. Had control board repaired and returned to me by the servicing company as “fully functional.” Upon reinstallation and first attempted use, again got beeping and flashing, but the non-heating functions (light, clock, timer, probe setting) now did work. However, all heating related functions returned an F3 error code. Then replaced the oven temperature sensor as indicated by the F3 code, but situation remained unchanged. All connections have been. Temperature sensor has continuity, reads 1100 ohms through the full circuit and increased correctly as heat was applied. Both thermal limit switches (fan and door lock) also have continuity and proper resistance, and are in the proper state open or closed state for room temperature. What else can be done to identify what is causing the F3 code and non-functioning and repair it?

1 Answer

Frank817, Check the wiring between the oven sensor and the control board but with a good oven sensor this issue would most likely be caused by a faulty board.

Hello Joan, Yes, you will need to discontinue power to the unit before testing with an ohm meter. You definitely do not want touch the wires to the switch with power on the unit. You will need to unplug one side of the switch to test continuity of the switch to avoid a false reading.

Hello Joan, You should check the limit switch WB24T10077 most likely located on the rear or top of the unit. This limit switch will prevent the bake and broil elements from heating if open.

Anthony, The oven having irregular temps then the sensor would be the most likely cause. You can test the sensor for 1090 ohms at room temp and then check it at 350 and the resistance should be 1654 ohms. The ratio should be for every 1 degree of temperature rise should be 2 ohms of resistance. If not registering properly then this will be a sensor issue.

Robert for Model Number JBP82B0F1BB

I just received and replaced my temp sensor. The connector was pretty brown and burnt but seemed intact and the new sensor plugged up fine and locked correctly. Oven will not hold temp once preheated. If I set oven to bake 400 degrees, once oven beeps that it has reached 400 I can cycle off then back on and the oven will be usually much cooler, maybe by 100 degrees. Both elements have been replaced within the last few years or less. Any suggestions on next steps? Oven is 15 years old.

Judie, The oven sensor does sound like it would be the issue but you will want to test it. Disconnect sensor/latch connector from the control. Measure sensor circuit resistance at sensor/lock switch connector (should be ~1100 ohms at room temperature). Ensure each sensor lead to chassis ground resistance is infinitely high.
