The Temperature Sensor is an OEM part for GE ovens. It plays a role in monitoring and regulating the oven's internal temperature, ensuring accurate heating and cooking performance. This sensor works by detecting the temperature inside the oven cavity and communicating with the main control board to maintain the set temperature throughout the cooking process.

Causes of a bad Temperature Sensor can include exposure to extreme temperatures leading to sensor failure, wear and tear over time, or damage from oven cleaning agents or spills that may affect its functionality.

Symptoms of a bad Temperature Sensor include:

  • Oven not reaching the set temperature.
  • Overheating or underheating, leading to unevenly cooked food.
  • Frequent error messages from the oven's electronic control.

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Questions & Answers

For Ge Temperature Sensor (Part Number: OEM9563958)

Curt, You will want to make sure that the cooling fan is running. If the cooling fan is not running then this can cause the control board to overheat and shut down. Test to make sure that there is 120 vac to the fan and if there is but the fan is not running then it would need to be replaced. The cooling fan part number would be WB26T10018.

Dave, Yes, you can test the oven sensor for a resistance of 1090 ohms at room temperature. It would most likely not be an issue with the sensor shutting the entire unit down. You will first want to test to make sure that there is 240 vac going into the unit. If there is then test at the elements to see if they are receiving 240 vac when set to bake. If there is proper power then it would be the elements that are bad. If there is not proper power then check for a overtemperature thermostat on the back of the oven and if there is not one then the control board will be the issue.

Hello Jack, the model number given is a part number, not a model number. Please recheck for the model number and repost your question. Also, the F9 code denotes a failure in the oven door latch mechanism.

Jack, the control WB27T10411 is going to be responsible for controlling the temperature based on the reading from the sensor WB23T10015. However, the error F9 is going to indicate a cooling fan motor failure. This can occur if the fan motor behind the control is not operating, if there is an object blocking the air flow under the appliance, or if the control has failed. This can be identified by inspecting for anything blocking the vents, then pulling the unit out so that the top panel can be removed. This will allow the voltage to the fan motor to be tested when the unit is set to a clean cycle. Within just a few moments, the tan should receive 120VAC, if it does and it does not operate, the motor would need to be replaced. If it does not receive voltage, the control would need to be replaced.

Eddyb for Model Number JCSP47BF5BB

On trying to replace part number WB23T10015, the temperature sensor, I found that the sensor plug and the receptacle had melted together. They were so brittle, they shattered apart when I touched them. With a bit of scraping I got the receptacle clear enough so that I could get sensor plugged in but there are exposed parts and it would probably have to be taped together with electrician's tape. Even though the taped bit would be well inside the back panel, I'm kinda leery of doing that. It seems the alternative is a complete wiring harness or a new range. Please advise.

Eddy, It would be recommended to cut off the connectors and splice the wires together using ceramic wires nuts and then taping them off with electrical tape.

Chris, You probably have a stuck relay on the control board. These relays aree supposed to open and close allowing the element to cycle on and off. WB27T10815
