Christy for Model Number GLDT696T00SS

When we were first contacted about this dishwasher the machines control panel would not power or operate at all. Therefore we replaced the control board and interface boards. This did bring power to the control panel BUT we can still not seem to get the machine to operate or cycle thru any functions after pressing the button of choice. It will signify that you have chosen the command, then it just blinks and cuts off never running thru a cycle at all. Would you think this is still a control board/interface issue or could this be leading to something like a sequencer switch that is malfunctioning or what would be your thoughts and recommendations? So many of the parts for this unit are obsolete but I am really trying to repair it for this unit.

Christy, Check the tech sheet for programming instructions for this model as it sounds like you may not have programmed the user interface board.

Jimmer, Did you check the drain flapper, inside the pump housing. Make sure it hasn't rounded out or stripped on the shaft activated by the drain solenoid. Check to make sure the "check ball" is in the proper location, inside the overflow tube in the sump assembly. You may want to disconnect the drain line from the disposal, let the dishwasher fill and wash for a minute, then drain the dishwasher into a large bucket or trash can. This will confirm if there's any debris in the drain line, and clear it out. and the pump and drain assembly works.

Dishwasher has an intermittent cycle problem, very annoying. We always run normal cycle, no heated dry. When it works right, it goes through 5 indicator lights in sequence- senses, cleans, rinses, skips drying indicator light since heated dry is off, and goes to clean indicator light and it's done. When not working it hangs up at end of rinse cycle, rinse indicator light flashes and machine starts beeping. Can hit reset button and beeping stops but machine does not run through and finish cycling to get to clean indicator. Have reset breaker and tried doing a reset that way but eventually the machine will have a bad cycle again (usually late at night and someone has to go down and turn off the beeping!). Since dishes are clean after beeping is turned off, we just leave machine alone until next use but then the detergent cup won't stay closed next time we start machine as sequencer never returned to start position. But locking door and hitting reset button before adding detergent resets sequencer and cup will then stay closed. Waiting a few days seems to make reset button do it's job better than when hitting reset button immediately after beeping stops. Maybe that indicates something, an electric charge dissipates or heat that built up is gone and reset button gets back to normal? We can go a few weeks working normally then have a run of days where it keeps hanging up again. I suspect either the control board is bad or the sequencer itself or perhaps there is another sensor involved? There is no water left in machine when beeping starts, machine is cleaning and rinsing normally, just have this erratic beeping and stopping of proper cycle follow through. Any way to isolate which part it could be so I don't spend a lot on wrong part ? Thanks.

NJ Diyer, Based off the description of the issue, With the unit having this intermittent issue it sounds like the sequencer can is periodically sticking and causing the issue. This would need a new sequencer to correct this issue.

The dishwasher won't run. The Normal-Light flashes to a beeping sound. When I reset it with the Reset-button, it stops beeping for a while, but then goes right comes back to the Normal-Light flashing/beeping. Cutting the power at the circuit breaker switch does not help. This has been going on for a while and so far it was possible to start eventually after enough resets/power cuts. Unfortunately, it seems to be gone for good now. From what I read online, I believe it might be the Sequencer-Switch. Is there any way to confirm this before I buy a $100-part? thank you!

Dish-doctor, Based on the normal light flashing and beeping, this issue would be caused by the sequence switch. If you get the tech sheet and run the F1 test you will be able to confirm this issue.

My dishwasher started beeping during the drying cycle. I could her a motor turning in the door and clicking sounds which usually indicates its moving from one cycle to the next, but the motor never stopped moving or clicking like it couldn't find the position it wanted to be in. It also continued even when I had the door all the way open. I opened the panel and the sequence switch is causing the noise is it a malfunction in the switch itself or could there be another part that's not allowing it to work properly?

My dishwasher failed to pump out the water after the cycle was over, so I bailed and sponged all the water out of the tub. I checked the float assembly to make sure it was not clogged and I checked the drain lines to make sure they were clear. I also pulled the filter basket off and checked for blockages and even removed the drain to the pump from the underneath side, no clogs. I put everything back together and tried to run it and it would not even fill with water, so I replaced the solenoid, but that did not fix the problem. It does not sound like it is cycling through the various cycles, the motor just runs but it will not fill or drain. I am tempted to replace the cycling switch but for that much money, I don't want to be wrong? Do you think this is the problem?

Hello Parguy, The seal around the drain door inside the pump housing has most likely failed. It is very common when the dishes are rinsed before going into the unit and/or if the unit is over soaped repeatedly, for this seal to get "wavy" and lost its' ability to direct the water flow completely. Since the pump housing has been made no longer available, you will have to order the complete pump and motor assembly WD26X10013 to complete this repair.

I replaced pump motor assembly and also the escutcheon at the top of the door, transferring all of the parts (control panel, timer, etc.) from the old escutcheon. At first, the detergent dispenser level (number 861 on diagram) wasn't in the correct position. After starting dishwasher, realized problem and stopped it mid-cycle. Re-assembled to get lever in correct position. Dishwasher now works, but it has some unusual and very short "spurts" at some points during the cycle, lasting only a second or two. This was never the case previously. I wonder if the timer/sequence switch is out of sync, or has gone bad.

1 Answer

Dj, Based on the information it sounds like the sequence switch would most likely be the cause of the unit having spurts during the cycle.

Hello Joseph, It would be very helpful to know where in the cycle the unit is stopping. You could have a water heating issue if it is 12 to 15 minutes into the cycle. When it stops, if it has water in it when it stops, you could have a drain issue. If it is empty, you could have a water fill issue. If you never hear the motor run during the wash cycle, you could have a motor winding failure. If you could provide a bit more information we can help you a lot better. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
