Mike May 20, 2017 for Model Number GSH22KGPAWW I replaced defrost heater. It was definitely bad. But compressor doesn't come on. What are the possible causes?
1 Answer Mike, With the compressor not coming on you will want to check to make sure that there is 120 vac getting to the compressor start relay. If there is proper power then the start relay would be the issue. If there is not power then the control board would be the issue. Read More...
Kadri May 16, 2017 for Model Number GSH25ISXBSS Where can I buy the temperature sensor climp butt connector? It is showmen in the instructional video but cannot find it in the parts section.
1 Answer Kadri, Unfortunately we do not have any butt connectors for this but you can find them at a local hardware store and would need size 22-18. Read More...
Stephen May 13, 2017 for Model Number cye22tshdss How can I test the thermistors at the control panel without removing them from refrigerator? I know its though the "j" plug, but which wires are used? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Stephen, Testing from J11-13 to J11-14 is the Fresh Food thermistor. From J11-9 to J11-10 is the Fresh Food evaporator thermistor. From J10-1 to J10 -2 is the Freezer thermistor and from J10-3 to J10-4 is the Freezer evaporator thermistor. Some models have a thermistor in the deli pan and it would be tested from J11-7 to J11-8. If your unit has an ambient thermistor, it is tested from J9-9 to J9-11. Read More...
Doug April 20, 2017 for Model Number CFCP1RKBD SS I ran the test on my ice maker. The ice tray rotates and water fills the tray but it will not continue to make ice. The water that enters the tray freezes but the cubes are clear instead of cloudy, as if not frozen solid. I ordered a temperature sensor after being told that may be the problem but now I don't know how to install it. Do you think replacing the temperature sensor will solve the problem and if so can you help with how to replace it?
1 Answer Hello Doug, This style of icemaker normally need the icemaker assembly WR30X28693 to correct a harvest issue unless the freezer compartment is not achieving 20°F. Read More...
Ben April 18, 2017 for Model Number ZFSB26DNDSS GE MonoGram the control board key pad is not working alright giving inaccurate temperature. Is there something wrong with board or something else.
1 Answer Ben, You will want to test the oven sensor to make sure that the sensor is good. The resistance reading should be approximately 1090 ohms at room temp. If this checks ok then the issue will most likely be with the control board. Read More...
Jason March 21, 2017 for Model Number PSCS5RGXAFSS I'd like to know how many thermistors I should have for my GE side by side model number PSCS5RGXAFSS. How many would be in the freezer and how many would be in the fridge? Thank you.
1 Answer Jason, It appears that there is a thermistor on the evaporator in the refrigerator and one other thermistor in the refrigerator section. For the freezer there will be one on the evaporator and a second in the freezer compartment. Read More...
Tc March 09, 2017 for Model Number GSH25JFTCBB Hello, so i had an issue where my evap fan went kaput, replaced it and it worked for about 20 mins, then heard clicking sound from rear, research stated bad control board, replaced that, lights in freezer and refrigerator was all working, nothing else. then i noticed that the temperature control panel was not working. replaced that, nothing, replaced starter relay switch and overload switch. still only the lights inside work. Confused please help.....
1 Answer Hello TC. When you replaced the board, did you check to see if your unit needed to be modified with the jumper wire being cut? The instruction sheet should have advised that. Make sure you ordered the correct board and that you followed those instructions if they apply to your model and serial number. Read More...
Jeff Dalseg February 07, 2017 for Model Number PSC25MWCSS I've done a ohm test on the J1 plug and got readings of 16.2 on #1 and 2 sockets with the common on # 5, but I get 31 and 32 on #3 and 4, reading from left to right, does this mean both the freezer and evaporator thermistor have failed? Also the problem started as the evaporator coil freezing up and not going into defrost mode. The test was done with the coil totally in a block of ice.
1 Answer Jeff, On the J1 connection the pins number 1 and number 2 to Pin 5 would both be for the refrigerator section which would be a normal reading for the temp with both showing the same. If you are getting 31K ohms and 32K ohms on both of the pins 3 and 4 then this would be a issue with thermistor. The freezer thermistor would most likely be good because of the elevated temp in the freezer but the evaporator thermistor would be faulty and need to be replaced. Read More...
Nicky February 05, 2017 for Model Number GSH22JSTASS Side by side GE. Refrigerator stopped cooling over a couple of weeks and eventually ice cream was soft in freezer. Slight build up at back of freezer (top coil section, I think). Tested defrost heater and thermostat circuit. Says reading should be ohm 15-25. Mine was 28. Removed heater and tested...was the same, 28 ohm. Is this too high? Defrost heater was replaced 2 and a half years ago.
1 Answer Nicky, The readings that you are getting would be fine. If the coils are completely impacted with ice then the issue will likely be the thermistor which would have a reading of 42.2K ohms at 0 degrees. If the resistance is not correct then the thermistor is bad and if it checks ok then the issue will be a main board. If the coils only have a little frost across the top then this would be a possible sealed system issue which would need a servicer. Read More...
D.Mcgonigle January 16, 2017 for Model Number GSL25IFRFBS makes ice great but the water dispenser will not put out water if I put a hair dyer up half way in fornt for about 10 minutes it works for about half day explain how to take off door
1 Answer D. , Remove power to the refrigerator and turn the water supply to the refrigerator off. Remove the front kickplate/grille at the bottom of the refrigerator. Disconnect the john guess coupler on the water line( press in on the collar surrounding the water tube and pull out on the tube) on the tube to the door, not the cabinet, disconnect the wiring harness coupling. Remove the cover on the upper hinge(1 screw) remove the three hinge mounting screws and remove the hinge from the door cam. Open the freezer door a few inches, lift up and away from the refrigerator cabinet until the water tube clears the hinge. Set the door on a padded flat surface. Reverse the procedure to install the door back on the refrigerator. Read More...
