Jim January 26, 2012 for Model Number PSS25NGNA BB I replaced both temp sensors in the refrigerator, but that didn't correct the problem. The temp keeps ranging from 34 degrees to 24 degrees. I have it set on 44 degrees.
1 Answer Hello Jim. If the temperature is not correct, and the thermistors are new, you will need to replace the interface board WR55X10390. Hope this helps. Read More...
Jim January 19, 2012 I have a GE fridge abnd I ordered part #AP3185407 to put in it. How does the panel in the come off.? I pulled on it but I am afraid to break it.
1 Answer Hi Jim. Either way you will need full access to the thermistor. You may need to totally remove the unit back screws, shelves and rack mounts to get he back off. You need to shut off the ice maker and dump the ice bin. A 1/4 " nut driver or the Phillips screwdriver will do. Then UN cap the thermistor cover (if need be per application) the thermistor is behind it and then cut the unit wires as close to the thermistor as possible so you will have more then enough unit wiring. Replace the thermistor and tighten the stripped wires. Quickly back fill the wire nut with silicone so no moisture will interfere with operations. Then replace the cap and reinstall unit shelves and parts. Check for proper operations. Use a condenser cleaning brush and a shop vac to insure the condenser coils are clean and you do not boil the freon. Make sure the condenser fan is running up to speed .Thank You. Read More...
Lance January 14, 2012 for Model Number PSW26PSTA The ice melts and drips into the freezer. From the posts, I'm assuming that the thermistor in the top of the freezer is bad. Question is, how do I get to it and should I change the defrost thermostat also. I hate to call a repair man for a $9 part.
1 Answer Hi Lance. In the freezer there is a oblong 2" thermistor cover, your thermistor is behind it. Only cut the old one out with the power off and as close to the thermistor body therefore saving as much wire as possible. Then back fill the connectors with silicone so the cavity moisture will not get into it and ruin it. You really have to just remove enough shelves to access the thermistor cover. Then if you need to , you will need to totally disassemble the unit to change the one above the evaporator . Remove the ice bin and remove the ice maker (turn it off). Thermistor part # WR55X10025. Rob December 29, 2011 for Model Number PSC23NGMDWW Follow up question. There are two sensors in the fresh food section, one next to the top food rack, and the other by the top drawer. There are also two in the Freezer section, one at the bottom side wall, and the other one looks like it is in the coil?. Do you recommend the bottom Food and bottom Freezer Sensors, or the Freezer and both in the Fresh Food? Also, are the sensors plug cables or will I need to cut the original and splice the wires? Thanks, Rob
1 Answer Hello Rob. If there is a problem with the sensors in both sections, it is best to replace all the temperature sensors WR55X10025. They do have to be spliced into the wiring harness. Hope this helps. Read More...
Peter December 26, 2011 for Model Number ZFSB23DRG SS I have replace the mother board and still have issues with keeping the temp down on both sides for the frige. How do I perform a diagnostic and what is recommended as the next step in solving my problem. Thanks for you help in advance
1 Answer Hello Peter. You will need to test the temperature sensor WR55X10025 inside the unit. Here is a chart to use for the ohm readings, Thermistor Temperature Resistance 77°F..................10,000 ohms 36°F..................29,500 ohms 0°F....................86,300 ohms. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Dennis December 26, 2011 for Model Number PPS25MGMB Temp. Sensor On freezer I believe is bad. Can I run system in a test and if so I would I do it? Thanks
1 Answer Hi Dennis. At room air temperature of 68° = 6.2k ohms. At 77° = 5k ohms. The thermistor is part # WR55X10025. We cannot identify your model #. Can you send us the exact model # so we can get you the correct part # ? Thank You. Read More...
Al December 18, 2011 for Model Number GSS22JFpaww Fridge wasnt cooling freezer not freezing, Cleaned condenser coils, took back freezer panel off found evaporator was a solid chunk of ice. Fan is working. Jumpered wires from main board line to defrost and heater came on. Am I right in thinking the thermister is in fact working and that if it wasnt the heater would not come on? I suspect the main board? What else should I check before buying a board.
1 Answer Hello Al. Yes, based on the information you provided, the main control board WR55X10942C is bad and will need to be replaced. Hope this helps. Read More...
Bd December 03, 2011 for Model Number PSC25SGSCSS The freezer on our side by side unit seems to be getting too warm, causing the ice in the storage bin to melt and water runs down into the freezer. Then the freezer runs again and we have ice all over our food. Is the unit going into an extended defrost or what is the proplem?
1 Answer Hi Bd. Be careful and try to put your hand close to the bottom of the ice maker to see if the heater is staying engaged when it is supposed to be off. (I don't suspect this to be the issue but you need to check to make sure). If the defrost is staying on too long it is controlled by the main service board part # WR49X10152. You need to check the freezer evaporator thermistor part # WR55X10025. At 0° it should read 16.3k ohms. This will tell the main control board to terminate the defrost cycle. There is another on the lowest area behind the evap cover on the left side of the drain pan. It is the same part # and has the same values. Thank You. Read More...
Steve November 16, 2011 for Model Number GE GSS22JETEWW I am trying to install 3 new thermistors in my 18 month old refrigerator. I am having problems figuring out how to remove the old one/install new one in the lower part of the freezer. Do you cut the wires inside the freezer compartment. The motherboard holder appears to not come out. How do I remove old one?
1 Answer Hello Steve. Yes, you will cut the wires and splice the new thermistor WR55X10025 into the unit. Hope this helps. Read More...
Frankie November 13, 2011 for Model Number GSS25SGPASS The evaporator fan stopped working. I changed the fan and main board. The compressor started together with the two fans, about an hour of running the compressor shuts down. More than five hours later the compressor does not restart only the evaporator fan keeps running. I unplug it for about an hour. Plug it back it still do the same shut down after about an hour and never restart. What could be the problem? I hope you can help me. Thank you.
1 Answer Hello Frankie. Based on the information you provided, if the fan motor and the main board are good, then the compressor WR87X10226 is bad and will need to be replaced. Test and see if there is power coming to the compressor. If so, and it is just clicking, then you let it sit and it runs, replace the compressor. Hope this helps. Read More...
