The Detergent Box Assembly is an OEM replacement part for LG washing machines. This assembly is responsible for holding and dispensing detergent and other laundry additives during the wash cycle. It ensures that the correct amounts of detergent, bleach, and fabric softener are released at the appropriate times, contributing to effective cleaning and care of your clothes.

Over time, the detergent box assembly can become worn out or damaged due to continuous exposure to water and detergent. Buildup of detergent residues can clog the compartments, and the mechanical parts of the assembly can also degrade.

Symptoms of a bad detergent box assembly include:

  • The detergent, bleach, or fabric softener not dispensing properly
  • Visible cracks, warping, or damage to the box
  • Residues remaining in the compartments after a wash cycle
  • Leaks from the detergent box area
  • Error messages related to dispensing issues

This OEM LG part is also compatible with some Sears/Kenmore washing machine models.

Joseph, the drawer assembly AGL74334828 may have a crack in it causing the bleach to leak through into the tub in an untimely manner. The drawer assembly has a release tab at the back center that can be pressed to allow the entire drawer to be removed and inspected.

Hello Derrick, The water valve is energized one last time near the end of the cycle. I'm sorry but this is a mystery to everyone except the engineers who designed the machine.

Tom, No you probably don't need a dispenser drawer, especially if you've cleaned the assembly, several times. You'll need to check the cold water faucet, hose and debris screen on the inlet valve 5220FR2075L / 5221ER1003A ( or replace the valve and flush the water lines) The dispenser(s) work on a syphon process, cold water is flushed into the dispenser and overfills the compartment, this creates a syphon and "sucks" the chemicals out of the dispenser compartment and into the wash tub. a slow cold water flow will not create a syphon, and the dispenser cup remains full of water/chemicals.

Hello Kevin. You will need to remove the drawer from the dispenser and try cleaning it. If it still leaks, then try leveling the washer and see if the leak stops.

Sal, WIth this model if you are unable to just pull the drawer out then it will be necessary to pry the drawer out of unit. There is one other option that may apply. You can try to take the top off the dispenser. There are tabs on the sides that you have to get released in order to take the top off. If unable to do this then pry the drawer out.
