Our ice bin was taken out and when it was put back in it was in backwards. The top tray in the freezer was then pulled open and the ice bin caught on the arm for the ice maker. I believe that this is the arm tells if the tray is full or not. Currently if the arm is in the up position the top tray can be opened, but no ice is being made. If it is in the down position the top tray can not be pulled out as the ice tray catches on it. With it in the down position it is not making any ice either. I also pushed the test button on the bottom of the ice maker and nothing happened. The ice tray is not even filling up with water. I did check the lines going to the solenoid valve and they are clear and the water is on. I also ohmed out the solenoid and it was at 389 ohms, telling me that it is okay. Not sure where to go from here. I was possibly thinking that the ice maker motor or gears were damaged when the arm was bound up. If you have any other ideas I would appreciate it before I order a new ice maker from you.

Hello Jason. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the icemaker AEQ72909602 got damaged and will need to be replaced on the unit.

My icemaker fills and makes ice, but it takes a long time to dump so the cycle can repeat. The installer is blaming lack of water pressure, although there is 60 psi entering the house, and the water supply from the faucet valve is good. What is the fill time for the tray and how long is the cycle from fill to dump? This refrigerator is new and I am not believing the low water pressure explanation. Could ice be accumulating on the dump gear and jamming?

Hello Mike, These icemaker assemblies are not serviceable, (parts not available to repair the icemaker), so all that can be done is to replace the icemaker AEQ72909602. The problem you describe sounds like the thermostat in the icemaker isn't cycling the icemaker properly. Water pressure has nothing to do with cycle time. The thermostat requires that the water in the unit achieve about 20°F before it can cycle. When it does cycle, it fills for 7 seconds so water pressure does play a part in the units production. The makers of the LG refrigerator warn that temperatures may prevent the ice maker from producing ice. In particular, if the door is opened too often, the inside of the freezer may not become cold enough to facilitate ice production. Additionally, if the temperature around the refrigerator is very cold, the refrigerator may not operate correctly. Most manufacturers state that an icemaker that is in a freezer section that doesn't drop below 0°F will drop approximately 70 to 75 cubes per 24 hour period. This of course is an estimation as the specific installation determines the exact operating characteristics of a particular unit.
