Mark for Model Number LG LFX25960SW

The ice maker on my LG refrigerator stopped making ice a few weeks ago. Since then, I replaced the water valve at the back of the refrigerator, the water valve in the door, the ice maker unit, and the water filter. It now makes ice, but only about 4 cubes per day. I checked to see if the water line to the ice maker was frozen and it was not. Could the main control board be the problem? I wonder if it is not telling the valves to open and give the ice maker water.

1 Answer

Mark, With all the parts that have been replaced, it would most likely be a faulty main control board that is causing the icemaker to not work properly. Also check the ice fan in the freezer to make sure that it is working.

Bob, To check the control board for Ice fan to see if there is power. You will need to check for 12 vdc on the control board to the ice fan. If there is not 12 vdc then the control board would need to be replaced.

Charlie, The sensor would be the most likely cause for the unit getting too cold. in the refrigerator compartment. The sensor is part of the multi duct assembly 5209JJ1009D which unfortunately the manufacturer has discontinued with no replacement available.

Dale, The ER FF error means that the evaporator fan in the freezer is not running. You will want to check voltage to the fan but the fan motor is most likely bad and would need to be replaced. Part number of the motor is 4681JB1027C.

Raymond for Model Number LFX21960ST

The control board display shows the foll error messaage: (freezer Err; Ref : ff) If i unplus the unit, wait for abt 10 secs and plug the unit back on, the control board lights up showing all the displays but after about 10 minites or so, the error messages reappear. Meanwhile, the frezzer section will not freeze and only the refrigerator works. Can you say if the fault is with the control board and if so, once I get same from you, can you tell me how to replace same, that is, how do I remove the old one from the door. Thanks

1 Answer

Hello Raymond. That is an error code for the fan motor inside the freezer. You need to check the motor first and if it is good, replace the board on the unit.
