Stef August 14, 2020 for Model Number 795.78094.901 My ice maker is making too much ice and the wire thing is not fully attached how do I fix this???
1 Answer Stef, the bail arm can be re-inserted into the top corner of the motor. If it is not properly set into the motor, it will not allow the motor switch to sense when the ice bin is full. Read More...
Henry June 04, 2020 for Model Number 79571602012 Went into freezer to find soft ice cream. Seemed like fridge was cold. Pulled cover off to see if condenser was dusty. It was. Cleaned, Condenser fan works. I'm around automotive compressors all day and this one sounds like it's working. But there is no cold in either box. This fridge never felt like there was much air moving around, but I changed the evaporator fan anyway. Same issue. I have the freezer temp sensor and fridge thermistor on the way. Worried about control board. Wish I started it up with the cover off to see if the evaporator was cold. Next move. Wondering what else to check while in there?
1 Answer Henry, You've pretty much covered the most likely issues, " Wish I started it up with the cover off to see if the evaporator was cold." is the next move. Remove the freezer evaporator cover, and check for an even frost pattern across the evaporator, from top to bottom and front to back. You're on track on target. Thanks, Read More...
James June 02, 2020 for Model Number 79572029110 Kenmore 79572029110 made by LG bottom fridge ~5 years old that keeps freezing things in the fridge I tested the resistance of the thermistor in ice water and got 22 ohms...Is this in or out of range? There are 4 thermistors listed for this fridge and none have the same connector as my Kenmore made by LG... I could solder or crimp another in place and I want to get a part with the right specs if indeed the thermistor/temperature sensor
1 Answer James, 22O is certainly going to be out of range for a thermistor as the refrigerator thermistor 6500JB2001B should measure 30KO at 32°F, 24.1KO at 41°F, and 8.9KO at room temperature. Read More...
Fridgey March 26, 2020 for Model Number Kenmore 79576203901 A few days ago ice started looking smaller and wet. The freezer was not maintaining freezing temp (set to 0F). The refrigerator seems to be in the ballpark of 37-40 (set to 37). Ran Diag Test1 - No Issue Noted Ran Diag Test2 - No Issue Noted. Condensor Fan appears to be running okay. The condenser is very warm to the touch. Line out of Condenser Warm/Hot. No heat on the Condensor Coils (which were mildly dusty when I first looked but cleaned those off, no change). Start Relay appears to be okay. Evaporator Fan appears to be running okay. Looks like pipes leading into Evaporator Coils frozen up. Appears isolated to entry point (entire evaporator coils are not frozen). I tried to defrost those manually, but almost instantly begin to refreeze. Looking for advice on what the next triage step might be.
1 Answer Fridgey, With the evaporator coil have frost on the incoming lines but not on the entire evaporator then this will require service as there is a sealed system issue in which there is a leak or a restriction somewhere. Read More...
James March 23, 2020 for Model Number Lg LFXS30766S/03 The freezer works but the fridge doesn’t, it has new compressor, new coils in both freezer and fridge. The fridge coil doesn’t even begin to get cold. I’m baffled, i think it would be some sort of temp sensor or something like that but I feel like it’s almost impossible to find real information on this model aside from everyone’s complaints. Any information on what the issue could be or sensor locations would be appreciated.
1 Answer James, This unit has a 3-way valve which will switch the flow of refrigerant between the freezer and refrigerator. This will most likely be the issue with cooling in one but not the other and the valve is part number AJU74892401. Read More...
Bill February 25, 2020 for Model Number LMXS28626S/00 My freezer is cold but not cold enough to keep things frozen and my ice machine isn’t making ice. The refrigerator seems to be working and keeping my food cold but the freezer isn’t keeping things frozen. The blower fans in the freezer are running and blow cold air. The compressor also seems to be running. I checked the temperature sensor but am not too sure how many ohms it needs to be reading? Thermistor seems to check out. Coils in the back are clean.. not too sure where to go from here? Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Bill, you can check the freezer evaporator coils for full frost , but likely they will be only partially frosted, this sounds like a sealed system problem and would require a service technician to check further. Read More...
Todd December 31, 2019 for Model Number LFX31925ST I have replaced both the temp sensor in the freezer compartment and the one in the fridge compartment and still not cooling. The compressor is running, nice and quiet. Amy other ideas why it is not cooling????
1 Answer Todd, the evaporators will need to be inspected for frost patterns. If there are not any frost patterns on the evaporators, or there is only a partial frost pattern, then there is a sealed system issue. Read More...
Wilton Ranchera November 07, 2019 for Model Number 795.79043.312 No air is being blown into the refrigerator from the freezer compartment. Unit has been thawed and the evaporator motor replaced. It is working....but there is no air in the refrigerator area. I read there maybe a damper but cannot find one in the parts diagram. I might add that the freezer works great. Can you point me in the right direction?
1 Answer Wilton, The damper would be part of part number ADJ73712902. Check to see if this is opening and closing. Also under the center of the evaporator in the freezer, there is a hole in the back wall that you will want to make sure that the opening is not blocked. This would be the return air duct. Carrie October 28, 2019 for Model Number LFX31925ST My refrigerator won’t go below 50 degrees. Freezer works great. I cleaned the coils in the back and made sure none of the vents were blocked. I thought I should feel air flow near the vents but there’s nothing. I tried to listen for the evaporator fan in the freezer but didn’t hear anything. No louder noises or clicks from the compressor. Thank you.
1 Answer Carrie, the evaporator fan will need to be tested at the main control in the back of the unit. At the connection CON6 of the main control, pin 1 (gray wire with black probe of meter) to pin 2 (blue wire with red probe) will need to be tested for 12VDC. If there is not 12VDC, then the main control has failed. If there is 12VDC, then it will need to be tested from pin 1 (black probe) to pin 3 (yellow and black wire with red probe) and the voltage should read between .1 to 4.9VDC. If the reading is not within this amount, then the fan motor has failed. The refrigerator sensor should also be checked at the main control at connection CON7 with the refrigerator unplugged. At 50°F, the resistance should read 19.5K Ohms when testing the two white wires at pins 15 to 16. The REV number for this model will be necessary when replacing parts as this can change what part is used. Read More...
Mike September 06, 2019 for Model Number LFX31925ST Coils on my evaporater have frost, but the fridge is warm and the freezer is warm.
1 Answer Mike, Check to see if the evaporator fan motors are running. Also, check to see if there is an issue with the defrost circuit. Check the sensors, the defrost heaters and the defrost bimetals to see if this would be the issue. Read More...
