Paul F April 25, 2023 for Model Number WM2455HW Sunday the washer was making a grinding noise and not spinning properly. Also was getting. slight burning smell. So I watched a video, took my rotor assembly off, and found the gear looked worn so ordered a new one but still had the same issue. Any help would be appreciated
1 Answer Check the inner drum by hand to see if it can be moved up and down changing the gap size between the drum and the tub. You may have a broken spider assembly 4434ER0002H. Read More...
Mark December 15, 2022 for Model Number LG WM2487HWM I am replacing the tub bearings for the second time. This set lasted maybe 2-3 yrs. This time the bearings trashed with oil and debris accumulating on the stator. What is the best way to clean the stator. Thanks!
1 Answer Hello Mark, Since the stator windings are encased with a type of enamel to insulate them from neighboring windings, it is not recommended to clean them with anything other than compressed air. If they are contaminated with oil, it would be advisable to replace the stator assembly 4417EA1002H. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter. Read More...
Vince May 12, 2021 for Model Number Lg wm2601hr Won’t agitate or spin. Now when I start it I hear hum but drum won’t turn
1 Answer Vince, Check to make sure that the tub will spin freely by hand. If it will not, get the tech sheet from inside the unit and put the unit into a service diagnostic mode to see if there are any stored error codes. The error codes will help determine what is going on with the unit. Read More...
Steve January 17, 2021 for Model Number WM2101HW What are the torque specs. for the rotor bolt and the stator bolts
1 Answer Steve, Unfortunately the manufacturer does not give torque specs on the rotor and stator. You will just make sure that they are tight and would recommend on the rotor to put blue loctite on it. Read More...
Mike Kokayko December 04, 2020 for Model Number WM26688hnma My washer's drum bearings and seals were failing. I'd previously replaced them about 2 years ago. Before I was able to get them replaced, the washer started tripping the GFI. Right now it trips the GFI immediately when plugged in. I double checked the outlet, it's fine. I suspect it's a ground fault in the stator, but it could be another ground fault ahead of the stator (like a control board or relay?) Is there a way to narrow this down and isolate the ground fault?
1 Answer Mike, Thanks for the question!!! You would need to remove one component at a time by disconnecting and isolating the wiring from each part. Then plug the machine in and see if the GFI trips. When it does not trip you will know you have found the part causing the issue. Possibly a long task but without fail the only way to find the part at causing the issue. Read More...
David September 20, 2020 for Model Number tromm wm2487hwm The washer works fine. It started making a loud hum like an electric motor would make if it was hung up. It's not. I took the top cover off and ran a load to see if I could see are smell anything. Nothing. Is it possible the stator would make this noise or is it more likely the motor itself. It only makes the noise when in motion. I feel confident I can repair if I knew exactly what it is. Thank you.
1 Answer Hello David, using a multimeter check the ohms of the motor stator coils, about 5-15 ohms on each coil, terminals 1-2,2-3,1-3, next check the wire harness stator to main board, if ok the main controls power the motor, the main board 6871ER1062G is no longer available. Read More...
Jim February 26, 2020 for Model Number WM2487HWMA I recently sent in a question concerning my washer stopping. You asked for the model. Currently only light loads can be washed.
1 Answer Hello Jim, it sounds like the controller for the drive motor is weak rather than the motor itself, the motor controller is part EBR38163302 however it is discontinued and no longer available. You can check the motor's stator windings with a multimeter, each winding should read 5-15 ohms. Read More...
Jim February 26, 2020 my direct drive washer stopped spinning. I replaced the rotor because it was stripped. It worked for a while but later stopped again. I changed the RPS sensor but can only wash light loads. Do I need to replace the Stator and if so will this solve the problem. It worked well for 10 years.
1 Answer Hello Jim, if you would repost your question with the model number we will be able to locate the technical information to assist you. Read More...
Peter August 29, 2019 for Model Number Wm2688hnm My wash machine stop spinning, I opened the back and forced it slightly to spin, I noticed a lot of rust. I removed the wheel of magnets that sits on the coil and seen that the magnet is shaving and the degree built up and got the rotor stuck. I cleaned it as much as I could with a nylon brush and it spins. 1 question...why is it shaving? 2nd question can I clean it with brake fluid? 3rd question Does the coil need to be replaced? 4th question why would it be rusty, but I don’t see any water?
1 Answer Peter, the magnets are a soft material that are running very close to the metal coils. The shavings can come from many possibilities to include an overloaded basket causing excess vibrations, dust or debris in the assembly, the stator expanding from heat, and so on. It would not be recommended to clean this with brake fluid or any flammable fluid as these are electrical coils. The best option would be to replace the rotor 4413ER1003A and stator 4417EA1002H together so that any damage does not pass over from the possibility of an original part causing this. In regards to rust if bleach is used, over time rust will form on any metallic surface that can rust due to bleach vapors circulating through the vent. Read More...
Mike May 28, 2019 I have an LG WM2487HWMA. When I search for the stator assembly, your sight returns both 4417EA1002K and 4417EA1002H. Site says both fit my machine? They look to be different manufacturers. Do they both come with the position sensor? "H" specifies it does come with the position sensor. Just want to order the correct one and not order a position sensor if both of these come with it. Thank you
1 Answer Hello Mike, 4417EA1002H is the correct stator windings for the model you provided. Read More...
