1 Answer Hello Thomas, thank you for choosing AppliancePartsPros.com. Since the water supply is turned off, it is correct that the only place water would come from would be the defrost drain. Commonly, the drain cap assembly DA97-04049D will get a sticky residue and dust stuck in it, causing water to back up over time and freeze in a block of ice under the evaporator. When it gets built up enough, the water from the defrost cycle will dump out of the front of the appliance. Clearing the drain tube and drip tray from under the evaporator all the way through to the drain pan in the compressor section would be the first step. Samsung makes a kit to help keep the drain for the evaporator free of ice. Also want to replace the drain tube/s on my refer, and possibly the defrost heating element as well. Pita December 11, 2020 for Model Number RF28HMEDBSR/AA-0000 The water dispenser only works when the water filter is not put in place. I've bought new water filters and that did not fix the issue. With the water filter in the water only drips water. Also, the ice maker does not work. I've increased the temperature on both the fridge and freezer but that did not fix either problem. What part(s) need to be replaced?

1 Answer Guadalupe, The water valve would not cause ice build-up under the freezer drawer. This would be caused by a clogged drain. You will need to remove the rear cover in the freezer compartment and clean out the drain, flush it with hot water. I have taken the two drain tubes off of the bottom back of refrigerator. The right fitting is open but the left hose fitting is plugged or froze-up. How do I remedy this?

Ken L. June 02, 2017 for Model Number RF268ABRS/XAA-0000 I have ice building up under the freezer drawer. A few weeks ago I removed all the ice. I opened up the back and found that the 2 drain valves were dirty and clogged. I cleaned them out plus I vacuumed out the dust from the coils nearby so that dirt wouldn't build up in the tubes. Well, the same problem came back. I have lots of ice under the freezer drawer. This time the drain tubes did not appear to be clogged. For now, I cut a larger slot in the bottom of the rubber drain valve so that the water would flow better. Will this fix the problem or is there some other cause for the ice build-up under the freezer drawer?
1 Answer Hello Ken, You should clear all of the ice, move the evaporator thermistor from the line it is on to the other Freon line at the top of the evaporator, install a defrost heater 819043, and replace the evaporator cover assembly DA97-06197S.
