Questions & Answers

For Samsung Refrigerator Ice Maker Assembly (Part Number: OEM16763817)

1 Answer

John, If the unit is not filling with water then push the test cycle button and test to see if there is 120 vac getting to the water valve. If there is then the valve would be the issue, if there is not then the ice maker is faulty and would need to be replaced.

Hello Kelly, In cases like this, it is always advisable to check for air flow issues. The cold air has to get to the area that is not freezing or it cannot get any colder. Check for proper loading of the unit and for any frost build-up on the cold coils that may indicate a defrost issue. Make sure the evaporator fan motor in the freezer compartment is running and the damper is allowing air to pass into the fresh food side. Also make sure the air return at the bottom is not blocked.

Sue, You will want to test to make sure that there is power to the icemaker as this issue sounds like it could be a main board issue with the icemaker not cycling. Also check to make sure that the harness connection is all the way in.

Dave C for Model Number RSG257AARS/XAA

ice maker model #DA97-11092B seems to be leaking. The ice chute is clear, and the water part works and does not leak externally. It seems that its an internal leak as the water ends up on the bottom of the freezer door so when you open the door it leaves a trail of water. I was away for 3 months so i removed the ice bin and it didn't leak. I just put the bin back in last night and turned on the ice maker (it does make ice) and it leaks again. Is there a valve in the door behind the ice maker that could be the culprit? or the ice maker heater? Its not a lot of water but enough that it is staining my bamboo floors.

Dave, There is not a water valve in the freezer compartment. If there is water or ice on the floor of the freezer then this would be a defrost drain being clogged.

M. for Model Number RSG257AABP/XAA

Hello. I have a Samsung refrigerator Model #RSG257AABP/XAA that needs a new ice maker. I have been told that the replacement ice maker is part number DA97-07549B, and when I check the compatibility, it says this will work for my model of refrigerator. However, I looked at the blue tag on the bottom of my old ice maker (the original one that needs replacing), and it shows the model/part number is DA97-11092B. When I check the compatibility for this part number, your site says the DA97-11092B is NOT compatible with my refrigerator. What to do? Go with the recommended part number on your website (DA97-07549B) or go with the part number that is shown on the old ice maker (DA97-11092B)? Thanks!

Del for Model Number RSG257AARS/XAA-0000

Samsung RSG257AARS ice maker stopped working. Part: DA97-11092B mfr. 2012 When I hold the reset button, it will drop the ice that's in the tray, fill the tray with water, and then the arm moves down then up. However, I cannot get this to consistently work every time I push the reset button. Sometimes it works on the first try, other times I will have to wait a few days and then it will drop again. Also, it seems like the water fill during the ice reset only fills the tray half way. Is it safe to say the ice maker needs to be replaced, or is there anything else I should test? Thanks!

1 Answer

Del, It does sound like the icemaker would be the issue based on the unit not working consistently when pressing the reset button.

Kris, With the icemaker not working even when you press the reset button would be caused by a faulty icemaker. You will want to replace the icemaker.
