Ken October 09, 2011 for Model Number RS2555SL/XAA Would the water tank(located back of refrig for drinking water dispenser) keep freezing up if the tank water heater DA47-00094C isn't working. The refrig temp stays @ the correct setting. The back of refrig keeps icing up and know I have to replace the Evaporator cover were the water tank assy mounts to warped the plastic and broke at the two bottom screw holders
1 Answer Hello Ken. If the coils are freezing over, you will need to replace the evaporator assembly DA96-00020Q, not the tank heater DA47-00094C. If the coils are fine and the tank is freezing, you will need to replace the tank heater. Hope this helps. Read More...
Animally August 24, 2011 for Model Number RS2555SL Will replacing this heater element help with fridge temp going up to 57-61 degrees as I replace the whole fan assembly and that worked for 2 weeks then the same condition arose. Do I need to replace the whole evaporator system or can I just buy the heater? The freezer side works just fine. Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Animally. If the coils are icing over, you will need to replace the evaporator assembly DA96-00020Q. The heater DA47-00094C is for the water tank, not the coils. Hope this helps. Read More...
Tracy August 17, 2011 for Model Number RS2545SH We bought our unit used from a friend. After approx. 1 month of use the unit started making noise and the temp went up( fridge side only). We took it apart and it was totally iced over. Defrosted it and worked fine for a few weeks and now the temp is going up again. Do you think we need to replace the AP417999 part the fix the problem? I thought you could just replace the defrost heat element, but from I what I am reading it seems like you need to change out that whole part. Thanx for your time.
1 Answer Tracy, There are several components involved in the defrost system, the heater, the defrost fuse and thermistor along with the main control board. It could get involved. your best bet would be to get access to a multi meter TJMA-DMT3 and check each component for a closed circuit or a resistance reading. You can check the components behind the rear wall of the refrigerator compartment and replace the appropriate part. or if all checks OK replace the main control board. If you do need a heater, a lot of service persons remove the new heater from the new evaporator and install it on the original evaporator, instead of replacing the complete assembly per the manufacturer. here's some help for using a multimeter [http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html] , Good Luck and Thanks Read More...
David August 04, 2011 for Model Number rs2555sl The answer given about the resistive value of the heater-dead short (zero ohms) is not correct. I just received my OVER NIGHTED package and the first thing I did was check with my digital meter. Two brand new heaters (yes I said two) both matched exactly the original-4.5 K ohms. That' 4500 ohms! Far from a dead short.
1 Answer Hello David. The information you were provided came from the manufacture. If a component reads closed for continuity, it will still have an Ohm value. Closed for continuity does not mean the ohms will be zero on a component. The manufacture did not offer the resistance in ohms, only that is should read closed. Hope this helps. Read More...
