Questions & Answers

For Samsung Microwave Door Switch (Part Number: OEM12134511)

Gerric, it would be recommended that the screws securing the latch assembly DE96-00414A are inspected to identify if they have loosened and allowing the door hook to push the latch back. If this is the case, the screws can be tightened. If not, the next step would be to check the hinges to identify if they have bent. If these are good, the door hook DE64-00760A can be checked to identify if the spring provides tension so that they can be brought down onto the latch.

Matthew, there will be two switches 3405-001034 (one at the top and one at the bottom) and one middle switch 3405-001033 for the model provided. However, they are available with the mounting bracket already assembled in the latch body assembly DE96-00414A.

Andrew, Check to see if there is power going into the control board. If there is then the issue will be a faulty control board.

Gene, With what you have told us it would most certainly be the door switches and the manufacturer always suggests replacing all of them at the same time. DE96-00414D is the complete assembly with the holder and switches.

Hello Pat. The open will be marked NO and the closed will be marked NC. The common is marked COM. This is the best way to determine the switch values. Thank you.

Thanks for answering my last question on why the microwave would keep running with door open. I will be checking the switches. But in the mean time the microwave has now stopped working. It was also tripping the circuit breaker before stopping completely. The panel is still lit, fan and lights run. But after pressing the cooking time and start button, it will not work. Can a faulty switch be the cause for tripping the circuit? I have other appliances on the circuit, but they weren't running when the microwave tripped the circuit. Thanks again!

JW, This issue will still possibly be caused by a faulty door switch on the unit. Also check the fuse on the unit to make sure that it has not blown.

Brittany, There will be tabs that hold the microswitch in place and you would depress the clip and the switch should rotate and come off.

When the door is open on our over-the-range microwave Samsung SMH1927S installed about 5 years ago, the range fan or motor starts, and the light turns on as if it was warming food. When the door is closed, the light and fan/motor stops as normal. Other than that, the microwave appears to be operating okay. We would greatly appreciate your recommendations, and if a replacement part will solve the problem. Also, is our problem a safety hazard when the door is open and it seems to be operating?

1 Answer

JW, You will want to check the door switches on the unit and replace which one is faulty.
