Laura December 30, 2011 for Model Number sf365pegn-1 How do I test the sensor, control valve, and gas valve? I just bought another new sensor and my cookies are still coming flat. I am trying to figure out what part to replace?
1 Answer Laura, Do you have other baking issues, or are the cookies the only problem ? The proper process to check for oven operation and temperature, you'll need an accurate thermometer that you can set on the oven rack, in the center of the oven cavity. preheat the oven for 15 to 20 minutes, Then allow the oven to cycle off and on at least three more times. Average the three temperatures, if the average temperature is more or less than 35 degrees of the test temperature, you can calibrate the control. If more than 35 dgrs. off either high or low, you will need to repklace the control. If it's just the cookies, it could be a recipe or cooking time /location error. Good Luck and Thanks Read More...
Jim In Ct December 12, 2011 for Model Number SF360PEEN Hi from Jim in CT Whirlpool gas range M# SF360peen, ACTUAL TEMP is 25 - 30 degrees lower than requested temp. Replaced Sensor with PN# 8053344 at a cost of $47, now actual temp is 20 - 25 degrees lower than requested. Question; Can I adjust temp by putting a resistor in parallel with sensor? Question; If so can you recommend Resistance and wattage values to boost actual temp 25 Deg? Thanks and Happy Holidays! Jim Shea db1928@sbcglobal.net
1 Answer Jim, You don't have to do anything, your control is operating within factory specifications. There is a 25 dgr. variance built into the control, so any temperature within 25 dgrs. of the set temperature is "in range". but, if you wish, you can recalibrate the control to within 5 dgrs. if you wish. " Temperature Adjustment If Oven Has Touch Control Pads n Press and hold BAKE pad for five (5) seconds. Current offset, if any, is shown in 3-digit display. Pressing the UP pad adjusts the temperature in 10°F increments in the following sequence: 0°; 10°; 20°; 30°; -30°; -20°; -10°; 0°; and so on. Once you reach the desired temperature offset, there is a five-second pause before the LED display prompt START? begins flashing. Press the START/ENTER pad to activate the new temperature adjustment. If the START/ENTER pad is not pressed within 1 minute after the START? prompt appears, the adjustment is ignored and display reverts to idle. BAKE temperature adjustment cannot result in operating temperatures higher than 525° F, or lower than 170° F, as measured at oven cavity center. Once the BAKE temperature has been adjusted, BROIL temperatures are automatically offset to the same degree. CLEAN temperature is also offset automatically when BAKE temperature is adjusted. If BAKE temperature has been raised, CLEAN temperature is offset +5° F. If BAKE temperature has been lowered, CLEAN temperature is offset -5° F. If power is interrupted, any previous temperature adjustment will revert to the default setting of 00." Thanks and Good Luck Read More...
Bill S. December 09, 2011 for Model Number IEP37801 I AM GETTING A CODE OF E-3 IN RED AND F-1 IN GREEN. THOUGHT IT WAS THE SENSOR SO REPLACE AND NO CHANGE. WHAT DOES THE CODE MEAN ? THANKS .BILL
1 Answer Hi Bill. Can you please double check to see the exact model # so we can provide you with the correct part #'s. Usually though the F-1 is a keypad membrane. And the F-3 is a sensor. Thank You. Read More...
Dale H. November 09, 2011 for Model Number SF325PEGW5 The oven will not come on, when you turn it on to bake the electric igniter glows bright white but it will not allow gas to come in to the oven. The top burners work fine.
1 Answer Hello Dale. Test for 3.2-3.6 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve WP3195008. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter WP3186491 will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Neil October 29, 2011 for Model Number 9114742990 ELE OVEN.BAKE ELEMENT WILL NOT COME ON A PREHEAT TEMP BUT WILL COME ON IF CNTL IS SET AT 475 DEG
1 Answer Neil, You're on the right track, you most likely have an oven temp. sensor, that has gone " out of range" and only works at the higher temperature range. The WP8053344 senso is probably the easiest and most "flexible" sensor to work with and is a substitue for the original. Thanks and Good Luck Read More...
Jeff October 24, 2011 for Model Number SF114PXSW0 (Whirlpool_ I have received an error code F-2 when the oven is on (It's a Whirlpool standard gas oven). What is the error message and is there a part that needs to be replaced?
1 Answer Hello Jeff! Here is what we have located regarding the F2 failure on your model SF114PXSW0: Oven temperature is too high: 1. Look for welded relay contacts on bake or broil relays. If this happens, replace oven control (also called clock or ERC), part number W10831525. 2. For SELF CLEAN models: check door lock operation. 3. Look for a high resistance connection or any other cause of high resistance in the oven temperature sensor circuit. Check sensor, sensor harness and sensor harness connection at sensor and oven control. Replace sensor if found defective, part number WPW10181986. Remember: Oven control (ERC) measures resistance of sensor circuit, not actual oven temperature. Hope this helps! Read More...
Dennis S. October 19, 2011 for Model Number RF385PXEW0 Was using the oven it seem to be stuck on high. Cut it off by the button, the element still was glowing red. Cut the breaker off in the breaker box let it cool cut the power by back on from the breaker box and the element still glowed red while the oven was off. Any ideas?
1 Answer Hello Dennis. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the range control relay is stuck in the on position, and you will need to replace the range control WP6610056. Hope this helps. Read More...
Don October 17, 2011 for Model Number 911.4698691 When I push the bake button, the "ON" lights up, the element starts to heat, after a few seconds the "ON" light starts to blink and the element stops heating. The same happens when I start the broil element. After leaving the unit on for about 20 minutes while the "ON" light is blinking but no element heating, I get an F8 code. Would replacing the sensor correct this problem?
1 Answer Hello Don. The F8 code for the model number you provided it for a bad ERC board. You will need to replace the ERC WB19X265. Hope this helps. Read More...
Phil October 05, 2011 for Model Number 91193558990 I'm getting f3 code for the oven. I tested the oven sensor and it showed some low resistance but not fully closed. Should I replace the sensor or is it some thing else. Can I test voltage going to the sensor? Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Phil. The sensor WP8053344 should read around 1100 ohms at room temperature. If not, you will need to replace the sensor. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Henrietta July 31, 2011 for Model Number 911 474 2990 I'm getting an F4 error message. Will replacing the oven temperature sensor solve the problem?
1 Answer Hello Henrietta! The F4 failure indicates a shorted or lose oven temperature sensor. Check the wiring to the sensor and replace the sensor WP8053344. Thanks! Read More...
