Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Oven Temperature Sensor (Part Number: OEM18034890)

1 Answer

Laura, Do you have other baking issues, or are the cookies the only problem ? The proper process to check for oven operation and temperature, you'll need an accurate thermometer that you can set on the oven rack, in the center of the oven cavity. preheat the oven for 15 to 20 minutes, Then allow the oven to cycle off and on at least three more times. Average the three temperatures, if the average temperature is more or less than 35 degrees of the test temperature, you can calibrate the control. If more than 35 dgrs. off either high or low, you will need to repklace the control. If it's just the cookies, it could be a recipe or cooking time /location error. Good Luck and Thanks

Jim, You don't have to do anything, your control is operating within factory specifications. There is a 25 dgr. variance built into the control, so any temperature within 25 dgrs. of the set temperature is "in range". but, if you wish, you can recalibrate the control to within 5 dgrs. if you wish. " Temperature Adjustment If Oven Has Touch Control Pads n Press and hold BAKE pad for five (5) seconds. Current offset, if any, is shown in 3-digit display. Pressing the UP pad adjusts the temperature in 10°F increments in the following sequence: 0°; 10°; 20°; 30°; -30°; -20°; -10°; 0°; and so on. Once you reach the desired temperature offset, there is a five-second pause before the LED display prompt START? begins flashing. Press the START/ENTER pad to activate the new temperature adjustment. If the START/ENTER pad is not pressed within 1 minute after the START? prompt appears, the adjustment is ignored and display reverts to idle. BAKE temperature adjustment cannot result in operating temperatures higher than 525° F, or lower than 170° F, as measured at oven cavity center. Once the BAKE temperature has been adjusted, BROIL temperatures are automatically offset to the same degree. CLEAN temperature is also offset automatically when BAKE temperature is adjusted. If BAKE temperature has been raised, CLEAN temperature is offset +5° F. If BAKE temperature has been lowered, CLEAN temperature is offset -5° F. If power is interrupted, any previous temperature adjustment will revert to the default setting of 00." Thanks and Good Luck

Hi Bill. Can you please double check to see the exact model # so we can provide you with the correct part #'s. Usually though the F-1 is a keypad membrane. And the F-3 is a sensor. Thank You.

Neil, You're on the right track, you most likely have an oven temp. sensor, that has gone " out of range" and only works at the higher temperature range. The WP8053344 senso is probably the easiest and most "flexible" sensor to work with and is a substitue for the original. Thanks and Good Luck

Hello Jeff! Here is what we have located regarding the F2 failure on your model SF114PXSW0: Oven temperature is too high: 1. Look for welded relay contacts on bake or broil relays. If this happens, replace oven control (also called clock or ERC), part number W10831525. 2. For SELF CLEAN models: check door lock operation. 3. Look for a high resistance connection or any other cause of high resistance in the oven temperature sensor circuit. Check sensor, sensor harness and sensor harness connection at sensor and oven control. Replace sensor if found defective, part number WPW10181986. Remember: Oven control (ERC) measures resistance of sensor circuit, not actual oven temperature. Hope this helps!
