Hello Karl. Yes, you can test the resistance on a wax motor, or you can test for power coming to the wax motor. If there is power there and the vent WP8545533 does not work properly, replace the vent assembly. Hope this helps.

Hello Karl. The vent assembly WP8545533 is used to remove the steam from inside the tub assembly. This should only occure during the drying cycle. The board sends power to the wax motor on the vent and opens the door to release the steam. Hope this helps.

Hi Roger. The function of the thermostat comes in play when the "heated dry" option is desired. It is placed in the bottom of your motor/ pump sump assembly, to monitor the temperature of the water inside. If the thermostat does not "see" 140 degrees (some -^ temps.),it will stall the timer or the control board from advancing the cycle. It allows the heater to raise the temperature slowly so you will get the heated rinse and dry. Your hi- limit thermostat part # is WP661566. Thank you.

David, you most likely have a dirty ribbon connector or a bad keypad/ control panel. Try this first, remove the control panel assembly and disconnect the key pad ribbon from the control board. Check for condensation and water marks in the control panel and the door liner assembly. Clean the end of the keypad ribbon and connector with alcohol, and re insert the ribbon in the connector properly and tightly. Install a thin coat of vaseline around the board connector and ribbon, re install and test the operation. Otherwise you want to start by replacing the control panel assembly WP8270227. Good Luck!

David for Model Number KUDM01TJWH0

There appears to be some sort of thermostat attached to vent assembly. How does this affect function of control panel? I have power to control panel, hi limit is good, door switch is good and have replaced control board. lights will come on intermitantly but will not start when "start" is selected. Also cancel and drain work and machine will cycle through drain. I suspect the ribbon strip or contacts on the control assembly but want to rule out anything else prior to replacement as this is an expensive part. Thank you
