Karl December 30, 2011 for Model Number KUDS01IJBS0 Is it possible to test the wax motor? Thanks, Karl
1 Answer Hello Karl. Yes, you can test the resistance on a wax motor, or you can test for power coming to the wax motor. If there is power there and the vent WP8545533 does not work properly, replace the vent assembly. Hope this helps. Read More...
Karl December 30, 2011 for Model Number KUDS01IJBS0 This may be a dumb question, but how does this vent work and what is the function of the sensor or whatever it is connected to the control panel? Is it purely mechanical from internal pressure? Ours never seems to vent well and I have noticed what looks like blow-by around the door seal. Thanks, Karl
1 Answer Hello Karl. The vent assembly WP8545533 is used to remove the steam from inside the tub assembly. This should only occure during the drying cycle. The board sends power to the wax motor on the vent and opens the door to release the steam. Hope this helps. Read More...
Trevor October 15, 2011 for Model Number 66516483300 Air Vent Assembly AP3182698 for Kenmore part # 8545533. Is this the "Wax motor" described on page 16, behind Fig 3-6 of the Whirlpool KD-12 manual? Is there a motor & fan inside this assembly to aid venting? We have the Kenmore Elite Type 577-O version of the Whirlpool GU1200XT / GU1500XT. Our problem is the top rack is not drying completely. The heating element seems to be working. Unit is 5 years old. Thank You for your help!
1 Answer Hi Trevor. The air vent assy. part # WP8545533, is a timed wax motor controlled vent for drying. Air Vent Assembly - Also suggested to order vent gasket WP8269259. There is no fan motor. Are you using "Jet -Dry" or "Rinse-Aid" ?" Run the water at the sink while loading so it has a fresh fill. Thank You. Read More...
Roger M. July 14, 2011 for Model Number KUDM01TJBL0 What does the thermostat or humidistat do to the function of the dishwasher?
1 Answer Hi Roger. The function of the thermostat comes in play when the "heated dry" option is desired. It is placed in the bottom of your motor/ pump sump assembly, to monitor the temperature of the water inside. If the thermostat does not "see" 140 degrees (some -^ temps.),it will stall the timer or the control board from advancing the cycle. It allows the heater to raise the temperature slowly so you will get the heated rinse and dry. Your hi- limit thermostat part # is WP661566. Thank you. Read More...
David March 18, 2011 for Model Number KUDM01TJWH0 No there are no lights flashing. The different wash cycle lights will sometimes come on when pressed other times they will not. The start light does not come on when pressed resulting in failure to start. I was able to get the machine to start on two separate occasions but since has reverted to what is explained above.
1 Answer David, you most likely have a dirty ribbon connector or a bad keypad/ control panel. Try this first, remove the control panel assembly and disconnect the key pad ribbon from the control board. Check for condensation and water marks in the control panel and the door liner assembly. Clean the end of the keypad ribbon and connector with alcohol, and re insert the ribbon in the connector properly and tightly. Install a thin coat of vaseline around the board connector and ribbon, re install and test the operation. Otherwise you want to start by replacing the control panel assembly WP8270227. Good Luck! David March 18, 2011 for Model Number KUDM01TJWH0 There appears to be some sort of thermostat attached to vent assembly. How does this affect function of control panel? I have power to control panel, hi limit is good, door switch is good and have replaced control board. lights will come on intermitantly but will not start when "start" is selected. Also cancel and drain work and machine will cycle through drain. I suspect the ribbon strip or contacts on the control assembly but want to rule out anything else prior to replacement as this is an expensive part. Thank you
1 Answer Hello David. Are any of the lights flashing? If so, which lights and how many times. Thanks. Read More...
