Whirlpool single oven. Wife was trying to use a pizza stone and oven was set at 425. Stone was on the bottom rack. At some point the oven locked. The oven was then turned off. There was a strong 'chemical' smell. Error code of E1F5. At this point oven will not heat. In past I have been able to unplug both top and bottom elements and then oven works. Not this time. Oven had breaker turned off. Then tried element trick. No such luck. Then tried clearing code and doing the hold button down for a minute to generate E0F2 code. No go. Breaker on and off multiple times in process. When testing element by turning on Bake (which does not generate any heat) and opening door, the oven does give 'Door' warning so the door probe does work. Then checked bottom element continuity. About 30 Ohms. So OK there. Top element is about 20 Ohms. Your turn ;)

Hello David, the first error code is telling you that your lock latch doesn't lock anymore. The second error code refers to a stuck key which would make sense since you held down a key for a minute or so. You'll want to test the solenoid on the door lock for 175 ohms. If it test good, test the door switches, if they test good more than likely you will need to replace the control part number 8186024. Hope this helps!

John, The door switch will not cause the unit to shut the elements off but there is a thermal fuse on the back of the unit that may have trippedand caused this issue. If the thermal fuse WP9759243 will not reset then it will need replaced. If the thermal fuse is not blown then this will be an issue with the control board WPW10438750.

Tina, This issue would most likely be caused by a control issue in which moisture may have gotten into the control causing it to fail.

Curtis, With this issue it would sound more likely that the main control board would be causing the door to lock. This would normally be caused by a possible relay sticking.

Oven locked after self cleaning - electronic board replaced and all wiring in double oven replaced. Upper oven will not close - the door lock mechanism not working. Do I need to order new door latch assembly - it is difficult to replace. Do I need service technician? Can I replace myself or can I remove and operate without as long as I don't use self cleaning. Seems every time I use self clean it blows out electronic board. This last time it fried the wiring.

Sharon, This issue would most likely be the oven door latch assembly that is faulty but would suggest checking the wiring between the board and the door lock to make sure that there is no damage.

Charles, There is a vent in the center of the oven that you will need to remove and then you will be able to remove the screws holding the lock assembly in place and then remove from the oven.

Hello Jim. No, you will need to replace the lock assembly if it is bad. 1. Disconnect the electrical power to the oven. 2. Open the oven door.3. Remove the bottom screw from each of the two side trim pieces. 4. To remove the side trim, pull the bottom out approximately 2?, and slide the top down to free it from the control panel.5. Remove the screws from the oven control panel sides under the trim strip.6. To remove the oven control panel, pull it out at the bottom, and lift and unhook it from the oven cabinet support at the top. Now you can access and replace the lock assembly.
