Duke May 06, 2012 for Model Number kp2671xac Hi - My wife was using the pro 600 K.Aid 6 qt mixer which is approx 8 yrs old. During the second batch of cookies, smoke came out from under cover hood. She turned off. After letting cool down, mixer would not start. I removed hood cover and checked motor, brushes, transmission etc. All appeared good. No burn marks or electrical burn smell on any individual component. I believe that something on the electronic board failed. There is no power getting to the motor. Nothing on the board is burned, popped or discolored yet I feel this is the problem. The board part number is 9707220. Should I check something else or is this a common problem? The mixer is used quite a bit since purchase. I did not use a volt/ohm meter to check the components on the board - What do you recommend? tks Duke
1 Answer Hello Duke. Yes, based on the information you provided, it sounds like the board 9705504 is bad. It has been discontinued. You can test and see if the board is sending power to the motor when you turn the unit on. If not, then you have found the issue with the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Eric April 03, 2012 for Model Number KP2671XAC Ok, I have replaced the Speed control and it still made no diffrence. My mixer will still go from off to a high speed then shut off.(not the highest speed but fast). If I go from off to the highest speed setting, the mixer will hit the max speed revolutions and then shut off. Could it be the Hall sensor? Help!
1 Answer Hi Eric. The hall effect sensor is part # WP9706648. Look carefully at the motor commutator where the motor brushes hold against the commutator. Slowly rotate the armature. Look at the gaps in between the commutator bars. The Mica-insulator gaps should be evenly spaced between the bars. Normally wearing together as the brush wears also.If you see a area where the bar gaps have arched and burnt open, then the commutator is shorted. Motor Part # 9706251. Always one way to tell is if the motor continuously sparks while running. Thank You. Read More...
Todd March 16, 2012 for Model Number KB26G1XGR5 My machine was kicking into higher speeds randomly and then stopping. I was told to replace the switch which I did and it did not change anything. Could it be this sensor that is causing the machine to operate incorrectly?
1 Answer Hi Todd. You need to change the speed control part # WP9706648. Make sure all connections are tight. Static ground yourself to bare metal a few times so you do not touch any internal new board parts w/static. Touch only the corners of the board. Thank You. Read More...
