James February 06, 2013 for Model Number WTW57ESVW1 Our machine is just over 3 years old. It starts agitating and filling at the same time and when finished there is still water in the bottom of the washer. Occasionally we find water leaking onto the floor under the washer, with no apparent source of leakage. I have checked the pressure switch hose and it is clear. Any suggestions?
1 Answer Hello James. Check and see if the machine is filling with water and spinign at the same time. If so, replace the temp switch WPW10248240 and the timer WPW10177827 in the unit. Read More...
Kiersten January 07, 2013 for Model Number Maytag Centennial Our top loading washer is 5 years old and has just started to give us trouble. It does not have a lid lock but as soon as you shut the lid to start a load, it begins to aggitate and fill with water at the same time. It seems to go through a regular cycle but after the last spin cycle, it fill again with water and then is done. The only way to prevent this is to put it in "Extra Rinse" mode. I would like to pass it along to my sister to use but want to fix it first. Any suggestions? Thanks!!
1 Answer Hello Kiersten. You will need to replace the water level switch and the timer on the unit to repair the unit. Read More...
Steve December 20, 2012 for Model Number whirlpool washer 3951702e Will not drain. Tried turning switch to all settings but still wont drain. Is it the control switch?
1 Answer Hello Steve. You will need to check and see if the lid switch is bad on the unit. If so, it will cause the issue with the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Gvsalaz December 16, 2012 for Model Number MVWC7esWW0 My washer will not fill with water or agitate, but if I put it on the spin cycle it will spin. I have replaced the timer and it still will not fill or agitate. Could it be the water inlet valve or the sensor? I don't want to to spend $$ on a part I don't need. I have checked the screens where the water comes in and they are not plugged. Any suggestions??????
1 Answer Hello Gvsalaz. Based on the information you provided, the temperature switch WPW10248240 is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. Read More...
Jt October 21, 2012 for Model Number 395535 or SM8280867, Whirlpool Ultimate care II Wash Machine Water dumps onto the floor under machine. Seems that the water level is too high when there is clothing in the machine. Took outside and watched it fill on each load size setting and it fills to the very top of the basket on each setting. I'm guessing from this that it is over flowing. Which failed part would be causing this. Also there is gel looking stuff in the drain tube. look like an algie build up would this have anything to do with the problem I am experiencing? THanks very much.
1 Answer Hi. Look with a magnifying glass (if necessary) under the lid and send me the model # so I can send the correct part #'s. It sounds like the pressure switch or the press. switch hose has debris in it or is loose. Remove the hose from the pressure switch and blow back into the tub to see if there are any debris in the hose. If so then replace the hose onto the pressure switch and advance the timer into a spin to reset the unit. I will need the model # to assist you. Thank You. Read More...
Pat March 29, 2012 for Model Number MVWC6ESWW1 When I pull the timer switch it will not fill with water. If I advance the timer it will start to agitate. I have replaced the timer and the water valve with negative results. The lid switch is working and I'm getting power to the hot and cold contacts at the water valve. I'm not getting power to the two contacts just below the hot and cold valves on the water valve, which I believe will allow the water to flow. I even filled the tub with water to see if it would start the agitator with negative results. Should I replace the water sensor AP44596660? By the way GREAT web site, I will recommend to all. Your videos and parts delivery are also fantastic. Pat
1 Answer Hello Pat, Sounds like a pressure switch has failed or the pressure switch hose is clogged. Remove the pressure switch hose from the sensor switch and blow through it. If it was clogged, you will feel the clog "pop" free. If this is the case, you should then run a sanitation cycle (normal wash cycle) with hot water and white vinegar to remove any other sedimentation and mineral deposits before washing any more clothes. If not, the sensor switch WPW10248240 should be replaced to correct the issue. Read More...
Otis F. March 06, 2012 for Model Number mvwc6esww1 Is there some type of release on the back of the washer or do you just pry the control panel up. I see in the digram there are clips on both ends of the panel, but it does not seem to want to come loose when i try to pry it up. I need to replace the switch sen switch.
1 Answer Hello Otis. Insert a flat blade putty or butter knife under the front corners and press in on the clips and release them and flip the panel backwards. Now you can access the sensor switch WPW10248240. Hope this helps. Read More...
Cj March 03, 2012 for Model Number WTW57ESVW1 & WTW57ESVH1 I have replaced the Auto-load -Water level/ temperature sensor P/N W10248240 3 times and it fails after 12-16 loads. The last time Whirlpool told me to replace the Flow Meter P/N W1017893 as well as this Auto-load switch. Guess what, The washer will not fill with water again after 5 days of 3-4 loads of wash . There is 122 volts going into the water sensing level switch and No power comuing out again. Is there an Alternative switch that is more robust? Why is this switch failing repeatedly? By the way, The Red WYW57ESVH1 washer that is 1 1/2 years older which is identical other than the color has never had a problem . I wonder what changed? Thanks, CJ
1 Answer Hi CJ. If the lid switch is opened without first shutting the timer off, it will arc the sensor switch and cause premature failure. Sensor Switch part # WPW10248240. Have you taken a electrical power surge while the washer is operating ? Thank You. Read More...
Joel B January 20, 2012 for Model Number wtw57esvw1 How do I meter switch AP4459660 out to see if it's bad. Just need the water level part. Thanks.
1 Answer Joel, The manufacturer has not supplied any crcuit information for testing this switch, at this point. Based on experience and several repair posts, you'll need to do a process of elimination, in your case, as long as the air dome hose from the switch to the side of the tub, is not kinked, twisted or clogged, and there are no loose wire connections at the switch, and there is a sufficient amount of water supplied to the fill valve . You'll need to replace the switch assembly WPW10248240. Good Luck and Thanks Read More...
Steve Z. December 13, 2011 for Model Number maytag centenial I will be replacing part #AP4459660 sensor switch for 4th time in 3 years. What might be causing it to fail so often. Can I bypass or disconnect the automatic water level part of the control? When the switch goes out machine will not fill. Thanks
1 Answer Hello Steve. No, you can not bypass the switch WPW10248240. These usually go bad by opening the lid without stopping the machine first. This will cause the switch to arc inside and go bad. Hope this helps. Read More...
