Bryan July 11, 2014 I have an admiral washer in which i just changed the water inlet valves. In the middle of a wash the cold water stopped abruptly and i smelled a burning smell. Now only hot water works. I suspect the temperature selection switch, but I am not sure if it is that or the timer. I cannot afford to buy the wrong part. Any way to tell for sure? (I have a multimeter).
1 Answer Bryan, We would need to have the model number of the washer to be able to assist properly. Please post your model number with a new question on the parts page. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/modelnumber_locator.aspx Read More...
Jim February 24, 2014 for Model Number 110.29522801 Always get the same temp off water on the machine. The rinse cycle is the same temp as all the other cycles. When the knob is turned to cold water the same warm water comes out.
1 Answer Hello Jim. From what you are describing, it sounds like the temp switch part# WPW10184148 may need to be replaced. Read More...
Kate February 22, 2014 for Model Number Whirlpool WTW5200VQ2 The washer will only work with cold water. When I switch the knob from cold to hot, it still stays cold. I am not sure if it is the switch on the top of the washer or a valve located on the back of the washer. I can shut off the cold water into the washer and just let hot water into the unit, and I will get hot water. Do you have an idea as to which part it would be?
1 Answer Kate, The first check needs to be at the fill hoses and valve, they both have debris screens, that can clog with sediment and debris in the pipes. Disconnect the hoses, and clean the screens. If the problem persists, replace the ATC water temperature switch WPW10184148. Read More...
Bert January 12, 2014 for Model Number Part No. 3952817 Rev. B My Whirlpool washer washes well, but it only wants to wash on the extra large load side and not on small load. After washing is complete, I can hear the timer, but it will not let the water out of the tub and advance to the spin cycle???
1 Answer Hello Bert. Check and see if the lid switch is bad. Also, it sounds like the pressure switch is bad on the unit. We will need your model number to help you more with this. Andy December 14, 2013 for Model Number WTW5300VW2 The machine only lets hot water in. When I select cold the washer just buzzes but no cold water goes in. I swap the hoses to put cold water in the hot connection and the same thing happens, only lets hot water in. I already changed the water valve and this did not fix the problem. Could it be the ATC switch? What else do you think?
1 Answer Hello Andy. No, if you swapped hoses and still got hot, the valve and machine is fine. The cold water supply coming to the unit is bad and needs to be repaired. There is no cold water coming to the unit. Read More...

Carol October 01, 2013 for Model Number ATW4475VQ1 The washer is allowing cold water in on the hot temp setting. It used to run and cold water in and then just hot. Now the cold doesn't seem to shut off. So the water is barely warm.
1 Answer Hello Carol. It sounds like the water valve WPW10144820 is bad. It has a sensor on it that reads the water temp and it sounds like the sensor is bad. Read More...

Jesse E. August 10, 2013 for Model Number Whirlpool WTW5800SW0 Washer The ATC on my Whirlpool washer appears to be reversing hot and cold water. When in the Hot position, the water is cold. When in the Cold position the water is hot. This just recently started happening. I have verified that the water hoses are connected properly and that the water valve electrical connectors are correctly installed. Also, the thermistor on the water valve appears to be working correctly when measured at the connector to the ATC (about 40K ohms at room temperature and the resistance reduces when the valve temperature is raised). Can the ATC malfunction in this way? Seems very strange. Thanks for any suggestions you might have. Jesse
1 Answer Jesse, This issue would be caused by a faulty temperature switch. This happens due to the switch is a electronic control and becomes faulty. The part required would be the temp switch WP8577786. Read More...
