For Whirlpool Washer Water Temperature Switch (Part Number: OEM18049497)

Phil S for Model Number 4755AWW

I have two questions please... first. My admiral washing machine only works on regular and only partly works on perm/gentle. and not at all on Gentle and blows the circuit on hand wash.. is this problem isolated to the selector alone and can this part be purchased? Secondly, my ATC seems to be having issues.. on warm it fills only hot and does not work on the other two settings.. however on the regular temp settings it seems to fill in the propper temps.

Phil, A complete and proper model number would be a big help, But, the ATC switch WPW10184148 does control the water temperature, and the water temperature issue is most likely due to a fault in the switch assembly. Blowing the circuit breaker is the harder issue. Since it only occurrs on the hand wash setting, it could be a faulty contact in the timer, or a shorted wire in the harness, but it would have to be a wire specific to the hand wash selection.

Hello Travis. You need to check and make sure the hot water works unhooked from the valve as well. If there is not power, and the switch and valve are new, it sounds like the wiring harness is bad and will need to be replaced.

Hello Rick. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the water valve WPW10144820 is bad and will need to be replaced. If only the hot works and not the cold, and the temperature switch is new, the valve will need to be replaced.

Rick, Great job, You're on target, the ATC switch controls which valve to open based on the water temp. selected, When it fails, it will not activate the fill valve solenoids and the washer won't fill. Replacing the switch WPW10184148 should solve the issue. Thanks and Good Luck

Hi Vik. Usually when the washer fills washes then stops at rinse, it is waiting for the cold fill from the water valve part # WPW10144820. Remove the cold fill hose and flush out into a bucket. Look into the valve inlet screen to see if it is clogged w/ debris's blocking the old water entry. Some units will wash with the lid up but will stop at the rinse cycle because the lid switch part # WP8318084 needs replaced. Thank You.
