Cindyrella47 October 31, 2012 for Model Number Sears Kenmore Washer Model # 110? then 24872300 I just bought this washer and at the top of the agitater it has the spot for fabric softner. Underneath that I noticed a blue ring that says on, push down to lock into place. I pulled it up and found that the whole top of the agitater with the fabric softner thing comes off. Underneath this is a round permenate cover that says "3 way wash action" . My question is what is this feature for? Is it for when you don't want to use fabric softner or does it change the washing action? Removing the top obviously lowers the agitator height. I didn't receive the manual with this washer as I bought is used from a appliance repair shop with a one year warranty, but am interested in what this feature is for. Also do you have a manual for this machine? Thank you.
1 Answer Hi. Make sure the bolt under the fabric softener cap part # WP8528278 is tightly holding the agitator down. Then pop the fabric softener cap firmly onto the top of the agitator. The 3-way action refers to the back and forth agitator action. Lastly the vertical movement of the agitator vanes that pull the clothes inward from the top -> down to the bottom of the tub over and over to immerse the clothes in the wash action. On the fabric softener bottom there is a 3/8" surrounding opening that dispenses the softener. Keep the softener cap clean regularly with a bottle brush. Thank You. Read More...
Robert October 15, 2012 for Model Number LXR6232EQ0 My washer has a vibration in it and I checked all of the suspension springs and they are good. The tub also leans to the right.
1 Answer Hello Robert. You need to check the suspension spring WPW10250667 located on the back of the unit. It causes the issue you are having. The three around the floater plate are not the same as this one. Read More...
Lisa H September 28, 2012 for Model Number 8525146-a My washer will not move from cycle to cycle. The button on the washer will not move to the next cycle. I have to manually move it.
1 Answer Hello Lisa. Test for power coming to the timer motor. If it is there, and the unit does not advance, you will need to replace the timer on the unit. Read More...
Mywhirl August 21, 2012 for Model Number 1CWTW5200VQ1 How do I know When the clutch assembly needs changing.
1 Answer Mywhirl, The most common indicator is a poor spin, all the articles are still wet at the end of the cycle. Occasionally it will make a slight "slipping" scraping noise. here's some information that may be more helpfull [http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/washer-repair/3265-replacing-direct-drive-washer-brake-shoes.html]. Whirldly August 13, 2012 for Model Number 1cwtw5200vq1 My whirlpool washer won't wash. It just fills and makes a low humming noise no matter what the cycle. The last time it worked I checked and observed that even though the timer had run to the end of the cycle the water had not drained so I put it on spin and the drum spinned slowly with little drainage.I stopped it after 10 seconds because of the funny noise I heard and now it won't wash.
1 Answer Whirldly, You may want to raise the control panel and remove the washer cabinet, so you can access the drive system. Dismount the drain pump WP3363394 and the motor so you can check for a clogged or seized up pump impeller, and check the drive coupling 285753A for damage. We'll send you some information that should help you get into the washer and check the components. Thanks Read More...
1 Answer Hello Kant. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the suspension spring WPW10250667 may have come off or is broke. You will need to check the suspension spring in the unit. Read More...
Robert July 22, 2012 for Model Number LSQ8234HQ0 Type#2 Washing machine over fills runs over tub even on small load.
1 Answer Hello Robert. If you can stop the water from entering the machine by turning off the timer or unplugging the unit, you will need to look for a bad pressure hose or replace the pressure switch W10820051. If the only way to shut off the water is at the shut off for the water hoses, you will need to replace the water valve 285805 in the unit. Read More...
Hank M. June 22, 2012 for Model Number Maytag Washer #A612 My lid switch failed today. The unit is ancient, (20 years). The inner workings are also getting to be noisy, (per repairman). I would just like to know what size this unit is, and what would be comparable in todays marketplace?
1 Answer Hello Hank, There are no longer any good top load machines since the manufacturers have gone to high efficiency top loaders. The best machine in my personal opinion is a front load by Whirlpool. The full sized Duet. I've been a technician for a long time and the only machines I "love" are the ones I don't have to work on. I've had my Duet for over two years and have never had to do a thing to it. Out of probably 20 washers I have owned, this is the first one that has not failed even in warranty. Read More...
Whirldly June 09, 2012 for Model Number cwtw5200vq1 What makes a lid switch bad, is there more to it than the contact points? Why does the basket spin only after the lid is lifted and put down?
1 Answer Hi Whirldly. The lid switch part # WP8318084 will go bad if the internal mechanical (physical) parts separate. Any man made part will fail eventually. If there was a electrical power surge as the washer was running, then the surge first goes through the lid switch and damages it.... If the lid was opened and then continuously slammed closed (as it was when I had teenagers), it has a negative effect as well. If it is not installed into the lid opened slot fully then the lid will close and engage the switch too soon and break it internally. Any one of these reasons can break it. The unit will only spin when the timer knows the lid switch is closed for safety. This has been a U.L. code change approx. 10 yrs ago. If you have to reset the lid to get a spin- then this is the sign of a bad lid switch. Thank You. Read More...
Bernard J. April 14, 2012 for Model Number Whirlpool How do you fix a washing machine where water is going into the tub, but it is not staying nor is it leaking out on the floor?
1 Answer Bernard, if the washer is filling and draining at the same time there is a problem with the standpipe where the hose enters. The standpipe should be at least 36" above the floor and and the drain hose should be no more than 3 to 4 inches down inside the standpipe. When this happens it causes a siphoning effect (fill and drain at the same time). Hope this helps you, if you need further assistance let us know. Thanks! Read More...
