Ann C April 08, 2017 for Model Number KCMS1555RSS2 The push button isn't working and you have to push it several times before it will open. I searched and saw that there is a replacement part, but I do not know how to remove the panel in order to get to it. Is there a video or link to show me how to do this?

Ken February 12, 2017 I have KitchenAid microwave with broken latch, push button and door won't open. I am trying to take outer shell off unit but has special star (torx style) fastners with metal button in middle and I can't get my normal torx drive into fastner to loosen. Do I need special type of open ended torx socket, where can I find this?
1 Answer Hello Ken. Those are safety torx bits. You should be able to go to your local hardware store and pick up the one you need to repair the unit. Just tell them it is a safety torx bit. Thanks. Read More...
Justhavinfun June 13, 2015 I replaced the release lever ER205451 on my Whirlpool microwave MT 4155SPQ0 and when I push the open button the door latches release enough that I can pull open the door but the door does not spring open on its own. With the cover off if I push the exterior button I see the new release lever lift enough that the door latches raise partially. Then if I manually assist the lever bar the last 1/4" the latches fully release and the door springs open. Replacing the release lever did not appear to be rocket science however I suspect I must have overlooked something. Could you perhaps point me in the right direction? Thanks
1 Answer Justhavinfun, The release lever is pretty straight forward for replacement. It sounds like you have gotten it in place properly and you will want to check the button to see if the button is damaged. This would be the most likely cause of the lever not lifting enough. Read More...
Al September 28, 2014 for Model Number GT4175SPB-2 One of the hinges on my door latch bracket is broken off. After buying a replacement part, do I just insert one hinge in one of the hinge keepers then press snap the other hinge in or do I have to take the control panel off? I am afraid of breaking a hinge on the new part. I couldn't get the control panel off. Also, since the bracket was just laying in the bottom of the unit I am not certain how the bracket fits in to unlock the latch on the door and activate the switch on the bottom.
1 Answer Al, You will want to unplug the unit and remove the outer casing of the unit. Once removed you will remove the screws on the back side of the control panel that will allow it to be removed. Once removed you can install the door latch bracket. Read More...

It seems to be a large grey plastic component covering the entire area behind the control panel. Thanks.

Phil July 28, 2014 for Model Number KCMS1555RSS2 We have a broken release lever as the door button on the control panel doesn't work anymore but we cannot figure out how to open the door panel. We've removed the grill and there is one screw at the bottom that we have unscrewed but nothing seems to budge. It is built into the wall. Hope we don't have to take the whole wall unit down as that looks like a major ordeal. Too bad because microwave works just fine still! Thanks
1 Answer Hello Phil, If you have the air grille off you should remove the screw that was under it, centered at the top of the control panel. Now the control panel should slide straight up and pull off. Be careful of the wiring. The door latch bracket WP8205451 is located behind the control panel near the base of the unit. Read More...
Winnie February 24, 2013 for Model Number Panasonic Inverter Microwave T945 I have to slam my microwave door very hard before it will sense that it is closed. Therefore, the microwave will not start. The light remains on for a few seconds; then turns off and the timer runs down but it will not start cooking. What part is not working? Is it the door latch? What triggers the action? And what can I do to fix it? My microwave is only 18 months old.
1 Answer Hello Winnie. You will need to test the door switch in the unit and locate the bad switch. Once you locate the bad switch, you will need to replace the door switch. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
