found this fridge with inside warm, pulled unit away from wall removed back, cooling fan was running but compressor was not and it was very hot to touch. unplugged unit over night to let compressor cool. plugged in next day cooling fan came on but compressor would not. can you give idea where to look next? We had a partial power outage. Our fridge was without power for an evening. When power was restored, the lights came back on in the fridge, you can hear the fan running, but fridge and freezer are no longer cooling. Three fuses blew when the transformer blew, but those have all been replaced. We would like to fix the fridge ourselves, if possible. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Changed out cold control. Unit worked fine three days and went out. Then replaced run capacitor and no change. Jumped cold control and no change.compressor runs about 15 seconds and goes off. Unit will cool down about 6 degrees in 2 hours. Need some advice. Unit is maytag MSD2542VES00.

George, The most likely cause for the unit compressor to run about 15 seconds then stop would be a bad start relay. The start device for your unit is part number WPW10189190.

Bput June 13, 2014 for Model Number ED5VHEXVB01

Hi, We woke up Tuesday morning and our floor was covered in melted muck. After cleaning up, I noticed that there was a "clicking" coming from behind the fridge every once and awhile. After pulling the access panel off, I could hear a loud click and then the compressor "trying" to run. A small faint humming noise and then after about 30 seconds it would "click" again. The compressor was HOT, VERY HOT. Do you think this could be the run capicator? I have already replaced the Start Device combination # AP4369220 and no luck. Thank you for your help.

There was a power surge and now my refrigerator no longer cools freezer or refrigerator. It acts as if there is no gas charge, but that is impossible. It was working perfectly before the power surge. What can cause the compressor to be running, but not actually compressing? Again, it was working perfectly, there was a power surge, now it is not cooling at all, but the fan, compressor, and control panel all appear to be working. I can hear the compressor running. A component must have blown from the surge. Could it be the capacitor that is causing this problem. I do not see how a power surge could suddenly drain the gas charge. Please let me know.

Randy, This issue sounds like the unit is sporadically getting stuck in the defrost mode which would require the control board to be replaced. This would be the defrost control board part number 4388932.

My 2 1/2 year old Kenmore 106.72003010 stopped cooling, so I cleaned the coils hoping that was the problem the fans where/are running but I couldn't hear the compressor, so I checked it with a multimeter and it checked fine still no cooling, so next I replaced the the run capacitor and the relay overload but it is still not working. The compressor is warm to the touch but no cooling in the refrige or freezer. Any ideas?? Thank you

David, With the compressor running but warm to the touch and not hot then the issue will most likely be caused by a low refrigerant charge. You will want to pull the rear cover of the freezer compartment and see if there is a frost pattern on the coils. If no this is a sure sign of no refrigerant flowing through the system.

Hello Arturo. It sounds like the HV board may be bad. Test for power to the interface. If there is none from the main board, you will need to replace the HV board WPW10310240. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
