Jliu77 July 08, 2015 for Model Number MDBH979SAB1 Our Maytag does not shut off - it ran for 13 hours on normal wash until I got home and shut it off. Also tried running a rinse cycle with the same problem. Control board?
1 Answer Hello Jliu77, This normally denotes a water temperature/heating issue but can also point to the control board. You should pull the tech sheet and run the diagnostics. This should point you in the correct direction to pinpoint the issue. Read More...
James June 25, 2015 for Model Number MDB7749SABO When I push the normal button, several other lights will come on. It will still come on but may not go through all cycles. Also the quick wash light is staying on all the time. I am wondering if the touch pad is bad or the control board. Thanks
1 Answer Hello James, You should pull the tech sheet and initiate the diagnostics cycle. This will bring up any fault codes that may be present in the control. It will also reset the control and after the diagnostics complete, the unit should cycle through normally until the fault is recognized by the control again. To invoke the Diagnostics Cycle, perform the following while in standby: ¦ Press Start to wake up the control panel. ¦ Press any 3 keys in the sequence 1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2-3 with no more than 1 second between key presses ¦ The Service Diagnostics Cycle will start when the door is closed. ¦ To rapid advance 1 interval at a time, press the Start/Resume key. Rapid advancing may skip sensor checks as some checks require 2 complete intervals. NOTE: While in the Diagnostic Cycle, the Start/Resume feature is turned off (for example, Auto Resume after door interrupts) and the Start/Resume key becomes an interval advance key. ¦ Invoking Service Diagnostics clears all status and last run information from memory and restores defaults. Curt April 27, 2015 for Model Number MDB7749SBM3 Maytag Dishwasher front control panel has several light blink or stay lit upon pressing a button. It appears as if the delay hours lights remain lit (although very dimly) When you press "normal" button the "Steam sanitize" and "delay hours" light up. We are unable to start or cancel the appliance and it does not function at all besides the random lights blinking when a different one is pressed.

Rick April 15, 2015 for Model Number MDB7749SAM1 2 year old dishwasher is now possessed. When you close the door and hit the AUTOWASH button it lights up the RINSE ONLY, SANITIZED, STEAM SANITIZE, and 2 HOUR DELAY buttons. When you push the NORMAL WASH button it lights up other random buttons. Thinking it is the control panel??? please help
1 Answer Rick, You will want to open the dishwasher control panel and check the ribbon harness to make sure that there is no corrosion on the contacts. If this checks ok then the issue will most likely be the control panel that needs to be replaced. Read More...
Randy March 31, 2015 for Model Number MDBH979SAM0 The control panel start button does not work. All the other buttons seem to work (light up when touched). What needs to be replaced, or what can be done to solve problem? 2-1/2 years old.

Darren March 10, 2015 for Model Number MDBH979SAB1 Only the light wash button works as well as start/cancel button. I have also noticed that after the cycle starts the door for the detergent opens almost right away. Maybe that is because of the light wash being selected but the cycle takes almost 2-3 hours to complete. None of the other buttons on the touch pad will work. Is this a control board or touch pad issue?
1 Answer Hello Darren. Based on the information you provided, the control panel W10811164 is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. Read More...
Robert February 02, 2015 for Model Number MDBH979SABO For about a month now, sometimes when I select jetclean (which is what I always use to wash), nothing lights up when the button is pushed. most of the buttons wont work except a few. If I hit wash only, something else lights up and so on. if I hit start it would wash and all was ok. then next time jetclean lights up and all was back to normal. Well, last night the washer seemed to have done all, even dry but did not drain the tub and the cancel/drain button does not do anything. I tried to wash again to see if it would drain and this time jetclean did not light up correctly and the wash seemed to stop in the middle as the water on top of the glasses was dirty and it did not drain again. what is the best guess on how to fix this. It is only like 3 years old and frustrating.......thanks
1 Answer Robert, It's doubtful you'll need the control board assembly W10486463 based on your description, you most likely have a degrading keypad / control panel W10811164. The circuits are inputting false information causing the control to be erratic and produce partial cycles. Read More...
Timothy December 09, 2014 for Model Number MDB7749SABO No power at all. The plug out let in ok. Would this be electronic control board Thank You Tim
1 Answer Hello Timothy. If there is power coming to the control board and nothing coming out, you will need to order and replace the control board W10486463 on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Anthony M. November 18, 2014 for Model Number MDBH979SAM1 How do I trouble shoot the control Panel? Dishwasher stopped working when normal cycle was selected. It would work when another cycle was selected. Now no cycles work. The switches look like they don't activate. Is this a control panel problem?
1 Answer Hello Anthony, This is going to be a problem with the control panel W10811169 or the connecting cable connection to the control board from the control panel. This can be cleaned and tried again to check. To clean it, use an electrical contact spray on the connector for the cable and allow it to air dry before re-assembly and re-establishing power to the unit. Read More...
