Hello Jliu77, This normally denotes a water temperature/heating issue but can also point to the control board. You should pull the tech sheet and run the diagnostics. This should point you in the correct direction to pinpoint the issue.

Hello James, You should pull the tech sheet and initiate the diagnostics cycle. This will bring up any fault codes that may be present in the control. It will also reset the control and after the diagnostics complete, the unit should cycle through normally until the fault is recognized by the control again. To invoke the Diagnostics Cycle, perform the following while in standby: ¦ Press Start to wake up the control panel. ¦ Press any 3 keys in the sequence 1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2-3 with no more than 1 second between key presses ¦ The Service Diagnostics Cycle will start when the door is closed. ¦ To rapid advance 1 interval at a time, press the Start/Resume key. Rapid advancing may skip sensor checks as some checks require 2 complete intervals. NOTE: While in the Diagnostic Cycle, the Start/Resume feature is turned off (for example, Auto Resume after door interrupts) and the Start/Resume key becomes an interval advance key. ¦ Invoking Service Diagnostics clears all status and last run information from memory and restores defaults.

Rick, You will want to open the dishwasher control panel and check the ribbon harness to make sure that there is no corrosion on the contacts. If this checks ok then the issue will most likely be the control panel that needs to be replaced.

Robert for Model Number MDBH979SABO

For about a month now, sometimes when I select jetclean (which is what I always use to wash), nothing lights up when the button is pushed. most of the buttons wont work except a few. If I hit wash only, something else lights up and so on. if I hit start it would wash and all was ok. then next time jetclean lights up and all was back to normal. Well, last night the washer seemed to have done all, even dry but did not drain the tub and the cancel/drain button does not do anything. I tried to wash again to see if it would drain and this time jetclean did not light up correctly and the wash seemed to stop in the middle as the water on top of the glasses was dirty and it did not drain again. what is the best guess on how to fix this. It is only like 3 years old and frustrating.......thanks

Robert, It's doubtful you'll need the control board assembly W10486463 based on your description, you most likely have a degrading keypad / control panel W10811164. The circuits are inputting false information causing the control to be erratic and produce partial cycles.

Hello Anthony, This is going to be a problem with the control panel W10811169 or the connecting cable connection to the control board from the control panel. This can be cleaned and tried again to check. To clean it, use an electrical contact spray on the connector for the cable and allow it to air dry before re-assembly and re-establishing power to the unit.
