This washing machine microcomputer control board is made of strong materials. The part is located in the back of the washing machine top near the buttons and dials that control the appliance. It serves the same purpose as a timer by ensuring each component does its job at the proper moment. Sensors offer data to the microcomputer control board so it can regulate the temperature of the water, drain and fill time, and spin and wash cycles.Several symptoms will often be present if the microcomputer control board isn't working correctly. The washing machine may not start at all or it may have problems starting, draining, spinning, or filling. If this part is creating issues, it needs to be replaced. For safety, first, make sure the washing machine is unplugged. Use a screwdriver to remove the panel that covers the part. Move any hoses out of the way to reach the microcomputer control board. Disconnect the wires, remove the part, and install the replacement component. This is a microcomputer control board that is installed in many Whirlpool washing machines. It's sold as an individual component. This is an OEM genuine replacement component obtained directly from the manufacturer.

For Whirlpool Control Board (Part Number: OEM18035499)

Ulrich for Model Number GHW9400PW0

I have just purchased a new Control Board for my washer and have installed it just fine. (it was fairly easy). However, when I turn on the washer the control panel is completely wack. All of the control lights are fine but the buttons are not working the way they should. For example I now press the "Cycle Complete Signal" button and the power comes on. The display continuously counts from 0-14h no matter what I do. What is happening?? -Ulrich

Ulrich, You will want to make sure that the wire harness from the CCU to the User interface is connected properly. It sounds like it could be on backwards. Also check the harness to ensure that it is not damaged.

We have an 8 year old Duet HT washer (GHW9400PW0). We are getting intermittent door lock failures; the door will not lock when starting the machine I have been able to temporarily fix the problem by removing the top of the machine and either removing and reinserting the door lock wiring connector to the CCU or by jostling the connection. It is starting to happen more often. The next step seems to be either replacing the CCU or the wiring harness. Which one is the more likely problem? Is there a cheaper solution? Our fear is that a some point the jostling will not fix the problem.

1 Answer

Dave, You will want to pull the wire harness and door lock and make sure that the connections are clean and that there are no loose connections. If this does not correct then depending on how the connectors look it may be necessary to replace both harness and lock assembly.

Eric, The F06 error code is an indication that there is a drive motor tachometer error. You will want to check the wire harness connections between the drive motor and the motor control unit (MCU) and between the MCU and the central control unit (CCU). Check the MCU by looking for operations of the drive motor and check the drive motor for powered rotations. Access the tech sheet and it will have information on testing the motor and motor control.

I have a whirlpool duet washer and have had a problem going on over a year. It gives f11 code. I have changed the mcu 2 times I have just got a new mcb today from appliance pros and when I installed it, I put it on spin drain and the pump started the drum turned, so i put all the covers back on and now i still get the f11 code. I had to wait on the card and the washer has been unplugged and it works the first time and the drum will turn and then it never moves again during diag test. What do you think. checked the motor it reads what it is suppose to. What could happen while unplugged. thanks flint

1 Answer

Flint, The F11 error code is a communication error between the CCU and MCU. You will want to c check the wire harness connections to the MCU, motor and CCU. Check the drive system for any worn or failed components. Verify CCU operation by running diagnostic test or any cycle. Check the MCU by looking for operations of the drive motor. Check the drive motor for powered rotation and check the serial harness at the MCU is not mounted upside down. The wires should be to the left when facing the MCU connectors.

Jose, You may have a damaged or defective CCU WP8182697. You'll want to remove the lower access panel and retrieve the tech data information sheets from the envelope taped to the back of the panel and conduct the diagnostic and control board tests.

Hello George, This is not a big job as long as it is done properly. First unplug the unit. Now remove the main top. Locate the CCU and remove it from the mounting to the cabinet. Now the part that will make is a much easier job is to remove one connector and install it on the new CCU. Now remove the next wire connector and install it on the new CCU. Continue with this process of one connector at a time and you will be done in no time with no crossed wires.

Erin for Model Number GHW9400SUO

Hi there. I have a Duet HT with an intermittent F/H error during cycle. Water is entering tub but during fill it stops, drains and flashes the code. I have replaced the pressure switch and it appears that my line (leading to it) is in good/great shape. No signs of leaks ... and I even checked the drain pump to for foreign objects. (There is no problem with it draining) -- -- -- It is intermittent, the F/H code. A few cycles are fine then the next several loads are a fight. -- -- I am running a diagnostic cycle right now. Up to C:05 (the heating... which seems to taking a long time) but no trouble so far. ... Do you think I can rule out everything and go for the Control unit? Or am I missing something?? AND... Everything completed well on the diagnostic run, from what I can tell. Again Thank You.... Erin

Hello Erin. Press PAUSE/CANCEL twice to clear the display. If there is no water in the unit: 1. Make sure that both valves at the water source(s) are turned on all the way. 2. Check for plugged or kinked inlet hoses or plugged screens in the inlet valves 3. Verify inlet valve operation If there is water in the unit: 1. Verify Drain pump operation 2. Pressure Switch Hose is in good condition and properly connected to Tub and Pressure switch Verify there is not a siphon problem Verify wire harness connections to:Inlet Valves, Pressure Switch, Drain Pump, Flow Meter, and Central Control Unit (CCU) Check all hoses for possible leaks Verify pressure switch operation Verify flow meter operation Verify CCU operation

William for Model Number ghw9400pw0 and gew9250pw0

I have the 9400 washer and 9250 dryer. Both have the same problem. The washer works fine with no codes except I have to push the buttons numerous times over 1-5 minutes to get a selection on water temp, spin speed and even the start button. This is also starting to happen on the dryer which is very odd . I will have to stand there and just keep pushing the buttons to get the selection I want. Other that than all lights work and do not have any codes. Thanks

Hi. On the washer model # , you have a outer control panel, transfer control buttons that press the user interface control board part # WP8182717. Remove the power and the top and begin removal of the controls one by one. Open the door and see if there is a hidden under the panel screw just above the door at twelve - o - clock. Remove the dispenser and all the inner facing screws. Remove the Lt. and Rt. screws that hold the controls on. Release the lower inner tabs at the side of the panel holding it to the cabinet. Note all wire routing and connections for correct reconnection's. Then be careful removing the sandwiched parts so you do not loose the inner spring loaded buttons. Verify if a button is broken or stuck. Verify all wire connections are tight. Use the tech sheet inside to put the unit into a Field service test to bring up fault codes, explained. Then Dryer model gew9250pw0, is constructed and checked in the same manner. The white control panel is part # 8558748. Then user interface control board is two different part #'s depending on the serial #. Thank You.
