Brent G. July 23, 2023 What is the difference in this part (the control board) and the other large board on my machine (called the motor control board, as I understand)?
1 Answer Brent G., The control board is your CPU processor that controls the machine's operation and sends signals to the motor control board for which cycle it is running and the motor control board controls the motor operation and speed. Read More...
Bill January 11, 2022 for Model Number 110.45992400 My washer had code f14 I was told that the control board needed replaced, So I got a new one it wasn’t cheep, now this new board just clicks no codes no lights on the panel just clicks. So I found out my brother has same model so he took his control board and put in and work fine I was able to do two loads before he took it back, I sent the board back and it tested ok but didn’t work on my washer why?
1 Answer Bill, Maybe you received the wrong control board or the one you received was just defective. The part number for the correct control board on your model would be WP8182689. Read More...
Chester January 28, 2018 for Model Number WFW94HEXW0 (FYI: I am an electrical engineer and very good in troubleshooting and repairing things... Can fix almost anything, car - both mechanics and electrical stuff, TV, computer, washers, dryers, irons, you name it....) 1. Washer displayed F06/E01 error. 2. Found MCU with blown components and burnt traces. MCU PN: W10245123 3. With blown MCU Machine would power on and I could get into diagnostics menu with blown MCU or with board unplugged. Pushing Run would lock the door and would not unlock, would not spin and got stuck here. Pulling power cable out would not make difference. Had to unlock door it manually or wait long time for system "reset"? 4. From local repair shops and Sears parts dept found that this board is discontinued and replacement is W10374126. Bought new MCU on Amazon from a reputable company and after it was plugged in - NOTHING worked. NADA. No response to any buttons. DEAD washer. Could not access diagnostics , nothing ..Everything seemed Dead. $200 down the drain. 5 Unplugging new MCU or replacing it with blown one would get me back to same condition as in 3 above. With old blown board I could access diag and reset errors but they would come again on the next try. So it was clear that new MCU is killing the system. 6. Done switching boards and resting errors several times with same effect. Suspected bad MCU - loading or shorting something in the system. Checked wires on MCU, CCU, front Panel, voltages whatever I could. Nothing wrong. Pulled board from the plastic box and inspected. Everything dry, clean and intact... Radiator on motor controller chip was warm so there was power to it. 7. Maybe about 3 hours later I exhausted myself and was pretty much convinced that nothing helps - new MCU is not working and I am done with it. Searched internet if there is something which needs to be done or reset? nothing. Ok, will have to buy CCU or maybe new washer and be done with it. 8. Leaving the laundry room I pressed the last time Power switch and Viola... Washer wake up like nothing happened ... and passed all test and I run the washing cycle .....like new.. And it works since...Wife yelled - don't touch it - don't try to figure out what is wrong...So please tell me what was the the issue that is was dead for few hours and suddenly started to work? One Friend says.. maybe board was moist and Data lines were shorted and dried out... I swear they were dry like a bone. Other says maybe there was contaminant shorting something and fell? Maybe, but I switch it and inspected it so many times.. and in the last cycle from not working to working I kept if flat and connected. and third says maybe it needed to be powered on /of 20 times? LOL That is the most convincing argument. Magic? Anybody seen anything like that?
1 Answer Chester, While it would be really hard to say the reason that the unit decided to start working, it is possible that there is an issue with the wire harness having a short in it and causing intermittent connection. It is also possible that the connectors on the harness could have had corrosion on it causing it to not make good contact. Taking it off and on several times could have allowed good contact. Lesa March 27, 2017 for Model Number GWH9400PL0 My Duet washer is giving an F11 code & DL code. I had a tech come out and he said a motor control board is bad. When I read these questions it sounds more like the CCU board.. It will just make a clicking noise but will never go to the cycle.
1 Answer Lesa, You will want to test the wiring between MCU and motor and between the MCU and CCU. If the wiring checks ok then this will most likely be an issue with the motor control board. Read More...
Sandy April 09, 2015 for Model Number GHW9400PWO The control knob won't activate at least 50% of the positions. I will ask for one procedure but it gives another. usually allows 35 minutes for washing. Also the spin cycle doesn't wring out as much water as it should. I don't know if this is because the settings won't work properly.
1 Answer Sandy, The cause for the unit not going into the correct setting would be a faulty user interface. This could also cause the unit to not spin at proper speed. The user interface part number is WP8182717. Read More...
Jim March 02, 2015 for Model Number GHW9400PL0 The washer has given error codes DL and F11 repeatedly for 6 months. The service technician started by repalcing the drain pump assembly since it had some wear and tear on it. Washer worked OK for a short time and then the DL code appeared. The door lock switch was replaced and washer worked OK for short time. I think the tech said the next step would be the CCU. The washer now doesn't complete most cycles. Error codes are DL and F11. I have to unplug to reset just to get the door open since it fails with the door locked. Pushing cancel and then the start buttons do not work. You can hear the clicking noise of the washer trying to reset before I woulkd unplug. Do I try the CCU? Can I do it myself? HELP!!!
1 Answer Jim, The DL error is the door lock but the F11 would be a serial communication error. With having both the door lock and communication error then the most likely cause would be the CCU. The CCU is easily replaced by removing the main top. To remove the top take 3 screws from the back that hold the top in place. You will locate the CCU at the top right side of the unit. When replacing take one harness off at a time and plug into the new control board. Then take the old control off and install the new one. Read More...
Reginald July 28, 2014 for Model Number whirlpool duet GHW9400PW4 When the washer is plugged in, the front control panel remains dark with no lights. There is a continuous click at the main control board. I am wondering if this continuous click is normal or is it an indication of the ccu malfunctioning or is the front panel at fault? Your thoughts. Thank you
1 Answer Reginald, You will want to test the power to the control board and make sure that there is a steady voltage coming to the board. If the voltage tests ok then the issue will be caused by the CCU WP8182697. Read More...
Pattie February 04, 2014 for Model Number wfw9600tw01 I have installed the new CCU and it turns on and lights up fine, but does not go into a washer cycle. Is there something I need to do to reset the CCU prior to use? Thank you!
1 Answer Hello Pattie. If the start button is not working on the unit, you will need to order and replace the user interface W10319814 on the unit. Read More...
Mike S January 18, 2014 for Model Number GHW9400PL0 My washer has been throwing the F11 code off and on for several months now. I ordered a replacement CCU (part number 8182697), popped it into the washer, and attempted to run a load. This time, no F11 code, but I did get an FH code. Referring to the guide, I re-checked water flow and valves, which were also not a problem when the previous board was in. Also of note, I do not seem to be able to put the washer into diagnostic mode. When I follow the steps to do this, pressing the "extra rinse" button (4 times in 5 seconds) only causes a triple-beep, never goes into diagnostic mode. This is true of both old and new boards. Finally, I noticed that with the new board, only when the washer is off, there is a high pitch whistle coming from the board. This also was not the case with the previous board. Not sure if that is significant. HELP!
1 Answer Hello Mike. There should be no noise from the board. It sounds like the new board may be hooked up wrong or it is bad. Check all connections on the new board. Read More...
Peggy January 09, 2014 for Model Number GHW9400OWO We are getting a code F11 mainly at the end of a cycle. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. This has been happening for about 6 weeks now. On the last batch of laundry pushing the cancel button twice was not working. It would flash the remaining time and then go back to the code F11 and beep. We couldn't even get the wash cycle to cancel for about 20-25 minutes. I was afraid we wouldn't be able to get the laundry out of the washer, but after walking away from it for about 10 minutes and going back it finally canceled. Sometimes we could push cancel twice then hold the start button down and it would resume where it left off. We are worried if it got a power surge or something when my husband was testing out our generator. We called a local repair shop and they think we need to replace the motor, and gave us part number 8182697. We are trying to find it online for the best price available. Do you think this is our problem?
1 Answer Hello Peggy. 1. Unplug washer or disconnect power. 2. Check wire harness connections to the MCU, the motor, and Central Control Unit (CCU). 3. Check the drive system for any worn or failed components. 4. Plug in washer or reconnect power. 5. Verify CCU operation by running a Diagnostic test or any cycle. 6. Check the MCU by looking for operations of the drive motor. 7. Check the drive motor for powered rotations. 8. Check that the serial harness at the MCU is not mounted upside down. The wires Read More...
