Hello Dan. The best way to access the thermal fuse is to remove the unit from the wall and remove the top panel. Make sure the power is off when doing the repair.

I have a Whirlpool double oven - using part W10406070 on the control panel - we built our house 9 years ago and this oven was installed then - well we had a storm about a month ago - the display panel showing clock - temp etc went black - lights still come on if punched - we checked breaker - it was fine but we flipped it off for 24 hours - oven came back on with a PF on the display and I reset all and it worked again - no issue - worked fine - then the other night storm again - same issue - shut it off - same thing - came back on - worked for a week - now off again - no storm- not sure what is causing this - clearly it is either a shortage or something going out. Please advise. model number RBD305PDB15

Cathy, The first thing that you would want to test with there being no display would be the incoming power to the unit to ensure that there is 240 vac getting to the unit. If there is then test at the control board for 120 from connector P16 pins 5 to 7. If there is 120 vac there then test the P16 pins 2 to pin 3 for 13 to 24 vac. If there is no power there then the control transformer is faulty and would need to be replaced. The part number for the control transformer is WP9760587.

Hello Matt. There is no particular order. Just unplug the wires from the old board and plug them into the new board.

Buttons stopped working, display showed F2 E6 error code, LED Display worked fine. Ordered and replaced the faceplate (keypad) from here, installed fine. All keys work now, however now the screen comes on erratically with same error code as before F2 E6. sometimes LED screen will stay on just fine for a week or so then it will beep out and come back with error code F2 E6. If you try cooking the oven only works until the fault code shows then shuts off. LED Display now is generally NOT working at all for most of the day and periodically beeps out with the error code before going blank again. Slightly confused since the LED display worked perfectly before replacing the keypad assembly. Assuming I need the main control board now?

Our clock display went out and after researching we felt that the control panel needed to be replaced. We have replaced part 8302319. The clock and display work but now half of the buttons will not work. Bake, clock and upper oven buttons work, and several others but again half do not. We have checked and rechecked the connections to no avail. The only part that is not new is the ribbon cable that connects the front piece to the control panel. Could that be the problem?

1 Answer

Hello Laurie. Try reseating the ribbon cable. If it does not work after reseating the ribbon cable, then the control panel WP8300435 will need to be replaced.

Melissa, You will want to check the transformer for the display to make sure that it is good. Test from the J16 connector on the control board for 120 vac between pins 5 and 7. If 120 vac not present then replace the control board. If there is 120 vac present then check on the same connector between pins 2 and 3 for 12 to 24 vac. If there is no power present then replace the transformer.

Barry, Yes, with the oven coming on by itself the issue would most likely be the control board but you will want to check the ribbon harness from the keypad to make sure that there is no corrosion or build up that could cause the contacts to signal the unit to come on by itself.

Last night as I was watching TV, the double oven started to beep every 15 min. or so. I got up to notice the keypad was dark and blank not even displaying the clock. I started pressing all the buttons and it would just beep. I read in our manual that I might have locked the control panel. I held down the control lock button for a few seconds and the E6 F2 code appeared. I pressed the clock button minutes later and it was displayed. Then I pressed start and both ovens turned on and worked. About 10 minutes later I looked at the oven display and saw the time not displayed; as I looked at the panel the clock showed the time again and everything is still fine today. If it's the control panel (board), I searched for it on Appliance Pros and see it's not available. Any suggestions for where to get this part if it's necessary; my model is biscuit color and it seems the part is available in only the black model that matches our model number :( Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated!

1 Answer

Hello Laura. Based on the code, 1. Check keypad connector for firm connection. 2. Press CANCEL. If error code returns after 60 sec., replace keypad 8300439. 3. Replace control board 8302967 is bad. Both parts has been permanently discontinued by the manufacturer and we don't know of any source or replacement for the part.
