Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Icemaker Assembly (Part Number: OEM9548208)

Tim, Based on the model and your question see the following: STATUS LED OUTPUT CODE: 4 PULSES, REPEATED ONCE INDICATES THE RELAY IS DEFECTIVE. REPLACE BOTH THE EMITTER AND RECEIVER BOARDS. 3 PULSES, REPEATED ONCE, INDICATE OPTICS AND RELAY ARE GOOD, BUT I/M IS NOT BEING SENSED/WILL NOT OPERATE. • CHECK BAIL ARM SWITCH. (MUST BE ON) • CHECK I/M CIRCUIT AND CONNECTIONS BACK TO THE RECEIVER BOARD AND NEUTRAL. • CHECK I/M COMPONENTS. 2 PULSES, REPEATED ONCE, INDICATE OPTICS ARE DEFECTIVE. REPEAT STEP ONE AND REPLACE BOTH BOARDS IF NECESSARY. STEADY LIGHT FOR 5 SECONDS INDICATES THE RELAY AND OPTICS ARE GOOD, AND THE RECEIVER SENSES THE ICEMAKER. NO LIGHT CHECK FOR POWER.

Thomas S. for Model Number KSRB25FKSS03

I had my ice maker replaced in 2011, and now the system seems broken again. The tray fills up with water, and the ice freezes, but the ice is not ejected. I ran all the diagnostics on the optics, and they seem to be working fine. I have not done the jumper cable step with the motor to force eject, since I'd need to remove it from the holder. Happy to do that, but what would that essentially prove? Wondering if that step is worth it, or if I should just replace the unit (again).

Hello Thomas, If the forced cycle operates properly, it proves that there is either a temperature issue in the freezer, (should be between 0°F and 10°F), or a failed icemaker cycling thermostat. It will also cause the water valve W10408179 to fill the icemaker 2198597 to prove if it is or is not operating properly.

Doug, For this issue, you will want to replace the icemaker. The coating coming off would cause the leaking issue and the coating is like a teflon coating.

Popajoe for Model Number 106.58976700

Ice maker was working fine. Went out of town and shut off water supply to house while gone. Upon return, turned water supply back on and fridge no longer makes ice. Replaced filter and water dispenser works fine. Sensor flashes when door is opened and changes to steady when flapper is pressed in. Ice maker did drop 6 cubes of ice into the ice container while we were gone. . .I assume it was residual water that was in the supply line before I shut off house water supply valve.

PopaJoe, If the icemaker was not shut off and just the water supply then this will likely be that the icemaker is faulty and would need to be replaced.

Angie, On this unit, there will be what is known as an emitter and receiver board. When you open the door there is a light that should flash on the right side wall. When you push the flap on the left side wall, this led light should glow solid. If it does not and continues to flash then the emitter board is faulty and you will need part number W11629974.

The first issue (ice dropping) check your ice bin is it overflowing? If water is dripping then the valve has failed, replace the water valve W10408179. Now that the valve is new see if ice maker starts working, if not replace ice maker.
