I do not know how to get a cycle to start. The icemaker has not filled with water. The old icemaker was working but on it's own terms. I know it can fill with water because I have seen it work recently.

Pearlean May 30, 2018 the ice maker is not connected for making ice and i was wondeing what position is the little metal rod that is on the maker suppose to be in up position or down position in the freezer compartment? Sometimes a little water be dripping on the very top shelf inside the refrig.

But if " the ice maker is not connected for making ice " then there should be no water on the top shelf in the refrigerator. If the unit is not producing ice then you will want to check to see if the light is flashing on the right side wall of the freezer. If the light is flashing then you will want to push the flapper on the side wall and see if the light continues to flash.
