For Whirlpool Compressor Start Device Kit (Part Number: OEM11884005)

Buck for Model Number ET8MTMXKQ01

I bought kit AP3961332 to fix a short-cycle issue; once i installed it: after a compressor cycle the fan still runs a few seconds at a time, sometimes with a relay click & other times without. Some times it appears to struggle with, to start the fan or not. Cooling inside is fine, compressor cycle is ok. Coils are as clean as I can get them. Air flowing good, in over coils, over compressor, flows out front and rear. Should I use the other overload in the package? Tech said use the lower part # for my compressor EMY60HSC.

Buck, You could try to use the other relay but if the unit is short cycling then it sounds more like a issue with a possible thermostat that is not reading properly causing the compressor to try to restart too quickly before it has time to equalize pressure.

Jim, With the issue that you are having, if it occurs every time the unit shuts down then it would most likely be caused by a faulty thermostat. If the issue occurs only about every 8 hours then it could be an issue that the defrost timer is sticking an not allowing the unit to come out of defrost.

Frustrated, With having replaced the start relay for you unit and still tripping the overload would be caused by a bad compressor. You would need to replace the compressor part number W10823815.

Hello Tom. There is no picture. You just unplug the unit and pull off the clip and old device from the compressor and press the new one onto the compressor.

Hello, This sounds like the repairman either didn't wire the compressor correctly. I would be very careful around the unit until someone checks because if he left the hot wire loose and it contacts the chassis, if the ground isn't attached properly, you could receive an electrical shock. Unplug the unit and have someone check it.

Hello Ed. These are no used with the box. You will install the overload on the single post and then the relay with the 2 holes goes on the to post that are side by side in the unit. The manufacture has discontinued the white box kit.
