Linda M. April 09, 2011 for Model Number GD5SHAXKB00 I have a side/by side, the refrigerator is working but the freezer is not, do you have any ideas? I hear refrigerator hum, haven't noticed anything different, ice maker was full, now melting and running down so, so emptied everything out.
1 Answer Hi Linda. You will want to make sure that no ice is present on the back wall of the freezer section. The freezer has to work in order for the fresh food to get cool. The fresh food will not cool if the freezer is not cooling. If you are experiencing a intermitten defrost issues, it may cause what you are experiencing. Read More...

Dan March 25, 2011 for Model Number GD5THGXK503 Part Number: AP3885081 Made by WHIRLPOOL I am having trouble understanding how this part will attach to the compresser. My compressor has three male parts in a triangular pattern. I do not see three female holes on this replacement part to attach to the compressor. The connecton to the electrical looks similar to the part I took off so no problem there.
1 Answer Dan, The overload will attach to the top pin of the compressor connection pins, the start relay will attach to the 2 lower pins across from each other on the bottom. Then you'll need to follow the wiring instructions from the part instruction sheet or the wiring diagram for the unit. Good Luck, hope this is helpful. Read More...
Bruce March 07, 2011 Whirlpool SidebySide Model ED5PHEXM00. The starter relay is fried, found replacement part No AP3885081, but want to know if these burn up on their own or if there is usually another cause i.e. Compressor? Also is there a way to test if the capacitor which plugs into the relay is ok. At $100 I didn't want to just start replacing parts.
1 Answer Hello Bruce. These do burn out on their own. The capacitor should be ok. If everything else looks good, you should be ok with replacing just this part. Hope this helps. Read More...
