Hi Linda. You will want to make sure that no ice is present on the back wall of the freezer section. The freezer has to work in order for the fresh food to get cool. The fresh food will not cool if the freezer is not cooling. If you are experiencing a intermitten defrost issues, it may cause what you are experiencing.

So heres the issue im having. I was walking out the door this morning and I heard my fridge making burning sounds. I opened up the back and can see that there is about to be a fire and smoke started coming from everywere. I unpluged it and started looking around. I see were its coming from around the area were this part is at ap3885081. I touched some wires and they are shorting out. Can you help me figure it out? Its on the back of the compressor.

Hello Steven. You will need to repair any burnt wires on the unit. The starter shorted out and it will need to be replaced. If you repair the burnt wires and replace the part, it should work fine. Hope this helps.

Dan, The overload will attach to the top pin of the compressor connection pins, the start relay will attach to the 2 lower pins across from each other on the bottom. Then you'll need to follow the wiring instructions from the part instruction sheet or the wiring diagram for the unit. Good Luck, hope this is helpful.

Hello Bruce. These do burn out on their own. The capacitor should be ok. If everything else looks good, you should be ok with replacing just this part. Hope this helps.
