Sataly March 01, 2014 for Model Number KSRB25FHBT05 I received part # AP3885081 - Compressor starting device from you. I checked compatibility. There are two devices in the kit. Neither are like the one on my KitchenAid. From the pictures on the written instructions it looks as if I install per Style 2: Discrete. Is that the one with the red dot or the one with the black dot? Also, the compressor terminals on this compressor are set up with 2 on top and one on bottom. Uhm? Does that mean I reverse the installation? Thanks. A video on this installation would be helpful.
1 Answer Hello Sataly. Look at the numbers on the overload and match them to the one in the kit. As for the terminals, it will only install one way and slide onto the terminals. At this time, we do not have a video of this repair, but the instruction sheet should help you install the part. Thank you. Read More...

James November 19, 2013 for Model Number Ed5phaxsb01 My freezer is cold but not the refrigerator side. The fans are working. No frost on coils and small amount of frost on line going to freezer fan. Freezer feels like refrigerator not freezer. What could be problem?
1 Answer James, Based on the information of there being no frost on the coils and the lines entering the wall of the unit having very little frost, it sounds like there is a sealed system failure in which the unit has a loss of refrigerant or has a restrictions causing the unit to not cool. Jim November 19, 2013 for Model Number 106.53332300 My compressor starting device failed so I bought part # AP3885081 and it came with six parts and no instructions on which combination I am to use. Please respond as to the correct parts. Thank you. JC
1 Answer Hello Jim. If neither white start device matches the old one you removed, then you will use a overload and the single relay on the unit. On the overload there is numbers. You match these to the old overload on the unit. The white wire is only used if needed to make the spade fit the relay on the compressor. Read More...
Skip October 10, 2013 for Model Number Roper fridge RT21LMXKQ04 Not cooling. Fan and compressor not coming on. Would it most likely be the start device? Can I test the device with an ohm meter?
1 Answer Hello Skip. No, if the fans are not running, it is either the defrost timer or cold control that is bad. Read More...
Brian October 08, 2013 for Model Number 106.50534100 Hello. Recently the start device on my compressor went bad. I ordered kit #8201786. I have the EGY90 style compressor. Per the instructions I should use part #2188830. The problem is the original start device, part #4SP1001, had 3 wires going to it. Blue, Red, and 2 White wires connected together. Part #2188830 only has 2 places to connect the wires. How do I connect the 3 wires? The instructions don't tell me how. Thanks, Brian.
1 Answer Hello Brian. Red to the overload, White to the run side of the relay and blue to the start side of the relay. Relay has 2 terminals and overload has 1 so there is the 3 needed. Read More...
Boy Rod October 06, 2013 for Model Number GC5SHEXNBOO Initial problem was its not getting cold. Found out condenser was all clogged up. Check compressor has no power and the compressor control board was toast. So I bought a new control board and install it. Compressor turns on but stays on. The condenser fan doesn't come on and the door sides are real hot. I guess the heating element are not kicking off too. Appreciate the help I can get.
1 Answer Boy Rod, You will want to check to make sure that the condenser motor is getting power. The issues that are occurring would come from the condenser fan not operating as the temp will not be right and the center mullion between the doors will get extremely hot. The compressor will run til it overheats due to the fan not running. Most likely will need a new condenser fan motor W10124096. Read More...
John September 18, 2013 for Model Number GD5SHALXB02 whirlpool fridge The fridge/freezer are not cooling. Compressor is not turning on. Replaced start device and and compressor came on for a minute of two and shut back off. When I touch the start device the bottom of it is very warm to the touch. What else can I check?
1 Answer Hello John. If the relay and overload are new, and it still kicks off, you will need to replace the compressor on the unit. Read More...
