Sevo May 30, 2015 for Model Number TS25AFXKQ01 I purchased the replacement number APN2188830 for my Estate TS25AFXKQ01. I know the part is not a direct replacement but what do I do as far as switching the pins/connectors. I had the old 4SP part and all of the connections where male on the relay and the wires from the refer were female. On this new part the connections on the relay are both male and female. Also, on the new part there are two male connector pins on the lower part of the relay. Which one does the red wire go to? I only have two wires on my refer. one white and one red. I have the 90HLP compressor. Did I order the wrong part?
1 Answer Sevo, On the kit that you received, there are 2 square boxes that have a post on them. Disregard these boxes and concentrate on the black relay with 2 terminals and one of the overloads. The red wire will go to the overload (which is the white small piece with a terminal). The white wire will go to the relay. With the terminals on the relay in the down position then the white wire will go to the left terminal. You will then plug the overload onto one pin (depending on design could be top or bottom pin). The relay will go over the other 2 pins. Read More...
Larry627 March 28, 2015 for Model Number KSRS27ILSS01 Had compressor start relay fry and refrigerator would not cool at all. Replaced relay now refrigerator cools but freezer side is at -20degrees and regular side is at 27degrees. Tried adjusting temperature settings to no avail. Any ideas?
1 Answer Larry, This unit uses thermistors to control the temperature in the freezer and refrigerator. With both sides too cold it would most likely be an issue with the control board but test the thermistors first to make sure that they are not bad. The thermistors should have a resistance of 5K ohms at room temperature. Read More...
Kaveh K March 07, 2015 for Model Number 10656936600 I bought the start relay as cross reference with my Kenmore refrigerator said I should. I replaced it in 5 minutes and started the refrigerator back up. The problem remains the same. When I crossed referenced and checked with the part in my fridge, the part shows as a Whirlpool part and not a Kenmore. My questions: 1. The problem was that it would not stay on or would fail to restart and all ice and everything else would melt. I ran it on highest and it would stay cool for a while but once it failed to restart problem was the same. Some times even pushing back and forth on the control dies not start it up. 2. What else I should check since this relay did not fix the problem? Is there another faulty part that usually goes wrong.
1 Answer Kaveh, In a lot of cases with this unit the cause for the unit stopping and heating up would be caused by a faulty defrost control board. When the unit goes into defrost it is not coming back out of the defrost cycle. Read More...
Cathy January 17, 2015 for Model Number GS6SHAXML00 After reading your site I decided that my refrigerator was not cooling due to not being able to start compressor. There was a clicking noise coming from the relay start device. I bought a "start relay" which does not look like the start device at all. Are these 2 different things? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Cathy, If the compressor has never been changed in your unit, it will take the WP2319792. If the compressor has been changed, you will need the W10920279. Since you ordered the kit, you should use the device that matches the start device on your unit. It will wire the same way and you WILL have parts left over from the kit. (Remember this is a kit that is designed to repair multiple model numbers). Read More...
Tim December 03, 2014 for Model Number GARF19XXPK01 I have a gladiator garage refrigerator that was serviced this spring for a failed start relay. The tech installed relay 2188829, subsequently I now have a compressor failure. The unit trips breaker and the compressor is shorted to ground. Could the incorrect relay be the cause of the failure? The correct part number is 2302351. What is the difference between the 2 relays and how could that have been the cause? Hoping to learn something about the relay differences before contacting the service company. Thanks for an unbiased evaluation. Please send reply to tjlmclever@comcast.net Thanks
1 Answer Tim, There is really no difference in the relays and the relay would not have caused the compressor to short. When the relay initially failed the compressor could have been on its way out. This is most true if the compressor was short cycling. This would just be attributed to a failed compressor. Read More...
Brian October 26, 2014 for Model Number 10653082300 The fridge was running warm and I could hear a click from the compressor. Bought and installed new start relay 8201786. Refrigerator still running warm. Start relay does not have a blue wire, but a capacitor that plugs directly into the relay. Do I also need to buy a new capacitor or could the compressor be shot? I also noticed that the new start relay rattled a bit when I shook it. Could I have gotten a bad relay? Thanks.
1 Answer Brian, The relay will have a slight rattle to it. If the unit is still clicking after installing the new relay then the issue would not be with the relay and you will want to do an amp draw on the compressor. If the compressor is drawing more than 9 amps when starting then the compressor is locked up and would need to be replaced. Read More...
Andrew September 23, 2014 for Model Number LG LRTN22312TT My Compressor will not start. I can visibly verify that the PTC was burned and is not working. Do you have the replacement for that part and if so is it combined with the overload protector in the same plastic housing?
1 Answer Hello Andrew. You will need to order 6749C-0014E and 6750CR0004S for the relay and overload on the unit. Read More...
T Johnson August 31, 2014 for Model Number model number JCD2289AEB, Jen Air I purchased part WPL 8201786, Start relay for my fridge which has an Embraco EGS 100HLC compressor. The instruction sheet for the part says it for EGY80 and EGY90 type compressors only. I was told that it would work with my compressor. I replaced the old compressor and plugged the fridge back in. It ran about 10 minutes then stopped. I unplugged it and waited a few minutes. I have plugged it in since then and it starts for 10 seconds, then stops. Please let me know if I need to replace this relay with another one made for a bigger compressor. Thank you.
1 Answer T. Johnson, This relay kit that you have will work for your compressor. You will want to use the overload with the larger number stamped on it. Read More...
Marcel April 10, 2014 for Model Number maytag plus mtb1956gew I see in your starting device kit instruction egy 80 or 90 hlp. My compressor show equ 70 hlc. Will your kit work for me? Thanks.

Jon April 02, 2014 for Model Number ED5NHGXMQ00 Relay inside the compressor starting device is burnt. I have the white box with wire connector using retaining clip type, but no capacitor. Do I need to purchase the kit and replace the whole device or can I just buy and replace the relay?
