Jeff, You will want to check the door latch switches first to ensure that they are good and if they check ok then the control panel would most likely be the issue.

Schuin for Model Number KUDP01ILBS0

My KA dishwasher stopped working and smoke came out of electronics area. I pulled the control panel apart and found the circuit board badly damaged and ribbon wire to control lights completely melted off. I am identifying parts and estimating rebuild as: Control Panel AP3176974 Circuit Board AP3775506 Door Switch AP3039128 Fuse Kit AP3178588 My questions are: 1) I cannot verify the Control Panel using the cross reference. The numbers on the old control panel are: 8531261, 8269137 (BLACK) and 8531270 (BLACK) 2) Are there any other parts that should be ordered 3) I tested for 120VAC on various wires coming into the circuit board and found NO POWER in any of the wires. I have electrical power at the wall switch (for turning on/off power to the unit). What part would cause this situation? Any/All help greatly appreciated.

Sonny for Model Number KUDPO1ILBS6 - KitchenAid Dishwasher

Hello, Dishwasher gone dead. Checked thermal fuse, two swtches in the door latch open handle, input power, they are all good. Saw a broken door latch and replaced it in hope that was the problem-no luck. Replaced control board and power came back on the control panel. Dishwasher ranfor about 2 hours the starts acting up again. Turn power off and back on, now the Normal cycle wash light is blinking continously. None others will work except for the cancel touch pad. I have spend over 130.00 on replacement parts. Could this be a new control pad (8531242) is needed? Thanks, Sonny

Hi. If your front panel does not have these cut out notches to accept the ones of the new bottom control panel, then it would be a safe manner to remove the tabs as long as it does not adversely affect the total rigidity of the completed replacement physically. So when you press in to activate he commands it does not feel spongy. Control panel part # WP8531242. Thank you.

Hi Tomilyn. Use a shop vac and towels to remove the water and debris as you take the inside top of the pump assy. apart. Rinse the wash arm jet holes out and clean the debris under the sink water. At the bottom of the inside sump assy. there is a chopper blade/screen part # W10083957V. It may be clogged or the chopper blade defective. Then un hook the drain hose at each end. At the pump end there is a check valve (flapper) part # WP8268375 that may be just barely hanging. Look inside the sink drain end and see if there is debris in both the drain hose and the sink plumbing itself. Use a screwdriver to help unclog under the sink. Thank You.

Hello Bev. The clean light blinking 7 times is a fault code for the water heating circuit on board the unit. If the control doesn't see a predetermined increase of temperature in a set amount of time, the code will flash. First off, be sure you always run the hot water at the sink before starting a cycle to shorten the wash cycle. The most probable cause of this fault code is the heating element going open. Other possible causes are the door switch, the control board, the door switch, and the wiring harness. Of course the first thing I would recommend is to visually inspect the heating element Heating element kit - This dishwasher heating element is for stainless steel tubs only. Includes a new computer board that needs to be replaced along with the element. For plastic tubs use W10518394. Part Number: 8194200 . If it has burned in to of course it will need replacement. If there is a white place, or much lighter place present it will need to be tested to ensure your not replacing a good part. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html . The wiring diagram should be found behind the kick panel and will guide you to the fore-mentioned components which you may need to test. After repair you will also have to place the unit into the diagnostic mode to reset the control so it can run through cycles again. This procedure is as follows: On the control panel....heated dry, normal, heated dry, normal - OR - High temp, air dry, high temp, air dry. These keys must be pressed within 10 seconds to set the control into diagnostics. At this point you can allow it to go all the way through the self-diagnostic cycle or you can press cancel. Sure hope this helps you solve your problem!

Hello Claudette. You will need to press Heavy wash, Normal, Heavy, Normal, Heavy, Normal, and the unit will start. Let it complete the cycle. Then always get the water hot at the sink before running the dishwasher. This is an error code for no hot water. Hope this helps.

Hi Norm4sure. The WP8531242 is a control panel keypad assy.where you press in your commands and options. The WP8564543 is the control board where your commands are sent to the "brain" and then it tells the circuit and devices to do your request. Thank you.
