Don April 20, 2017 for Model Number Whirlpool Refrigerator, GD5SHAXLB02 Hello, I need a new ice tray and the entire auger attachment that mounts below the ice tray for my refrigerator. Please verify the number of the part that I need. thanks Don
Rhonda January 16, 2017 for Model Number Whirlpool GD5YHAXTL02 The ice dispenser is locking up and making a terrible noise. I can take the ice bucket off after using a hair dryer to thaw it loose at the base. Then I clean out the jam, put it back in and it works for 1 day and then it does it again. Should I replace the ice bucket assembly or is something else wrong?
1 Answer Rhonda, You will want to check the ice door on the unit to make sure that there is not an air leak around the ice door on the unit. Read More...

Rob December 25, 2014 for Model Number ed5hfhaxva00 re: ice bin I have never been able to remove bin easily ever since purchase a few yrs.ago...finally got ice bin removed this time and a spring came loose that somehow works with the blue lever for release...I cannot figure out where that spring goes so the blue release lever has become useless. Any help would be appreciated Thank you R.Eisinger
1 Answer Rob, On the lever of the ice bin there is a straight peg that goes next to where the push button is, this is the location of where the spring would attach. Unfortunately there is no diagram showing how this spring would go on. Read More...
Joseph May 09, 2014 for Model Number gs5shaxtb01 I removed ice bin (AP3996934) and now it will not go back in the slot. It just wobbles back and forth. Any suggestions?
1 Answer Hello Joseph, Make sure there is no ice or frost in the opening in the bottom of it where the motor shaft meshes. If the door liner is malformed, the only factory approved fix is to replace the door liner, which has been dis-continued L2327940B. Read More...
Frank C. February 10, 2014 for Model Number KSRL25FRST04 Shaft on motor will turn, but auger in ice bin will not. Looks as though the bin is not sitting all the way on motor shaft. What can be stopping it from going all the way down, so it will turn auger to dispense ice?
1 Answer Frank, You will want to check to make sure that the shaft of the that comes from the motor to the ice bin is not stripped at the top. Also make sure that it is down far enough so that it will seat properly. To get it to go lower you can tap the top of it with the blunt end of a screwdriver. You will want to make sure that it is not down too far and check to make sure that the top is not rounded off. If it is then you will need to replace the shaft WP2188917. Read More...
C.J. October 21, 2013 for Model Number Whirlpool ED5FHAXSB02 My ice maker started only dispensing crushed ice rather than cubes, which we prefer. It keeps getting clogged and I have removed the ice container and cleaned the clogged ice out several times. Once it clogs, no ice will dispense. Is there something wrong with the blades? Do I need to purchase an entire ice container unit?
1 Answer Hello C.J., The lever on the bottom side of the crusher flips the ice diverter out of the way so the cubes can go around the blades instead of getting crushed. There is a solenoid in the back that the end of this arm sticks into. If it is not positioned properly or the solenoid is in the up position when the bin is installed into the unit, it will not actuate the arm and crushed ice will dispense. If the solenoid is not actuating and is in the down position, it could be frozen. Blowing a hair dryer toward it for about 15 minutes will thaw it out to see if the solenoid is still operational. If it is and this restores operation, look for an air leak around the ice door or door seal since moisture from room temperature air will condense on the metal parts of the solenoid. If it doesn't correct the issue, look for voltage at the solenoid with the door switch taped down and cubes chosen and the dispense button pressed. If voltage is present, replace the solenoid. If no voltage, check in the dispense area for a defective micro switch or micro switch holder. Read More...

Bob February 09, 2013 for Model Number ED5HHAXVB01 How do we remove the Ice bin and crusher bin from the door? Pressing the blue latch on the right side does not free the unit when trying to pull or forward (tip away from the door)? If we purchase the 2317251 complete ice container is it a plug and play replacement for a unit that is not working or do we need to go through all of the motor replacement steps? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Bob, The ice bin should be easily removed. If you switch ice back and forth pressing lever inbetween this will loosen up until it lifts off. On the last turn allow to barely engage before releasing. Read More...
