Symptoms of a bad Control Board include:

  • The dishwasher not starting or responding to inputs
  • Error codes or indicator lights illuminating
  • Cycles not running or completing properly
  • Issues with water intake, draining, or heating
  • Strange noises or abnormal behavior during operation

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

Bob T. for Model Number MDB7600AWQ

My Maytag dishwasher (model # MDB7600AWQ) is not heat drying the dishes. I replaced the heating element but that did not solve the problem. I took the door vent out and nothing was blocking that; the flap inside the vent is open and the wax motor showed resistance when checked with a volt/ohm meter meaning it's ok. I tested the high limit thermostat with a volt/ohm meter and that also showed resistance meaning that's also ok. Can the control board be the problem? If it is the control board, can you please tell me the part number? Thank you

1 Answer

Hello Bob, This could be caused by the control 99003160 or by the wax motor WP22002119 since it can be seized so it does not actuate the vent door when energized. I'm sorry but this part 99003160 has been discontinued by the manufacturer and no satisfactory substitutions have been provided. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Donna, It would be recommended to access the tech sheet and test the button on the console to make sure that the start button is good. If it is good then the control board would be the likely cause for this issue.

Hello Dan, There is no special tool for removing any connectors from the board. You should be able to release a locking tab which will release the connector.

Hello Norman, If the model number is actually MDBH975AWB, I would first look at the connections inside the power connection box behind the kickpanel. If these are good you should verify the model number on your units' I.D. tag since there are several series changes in this model number. If the serial number begins with 32 or lower you should have ordered 12002709. If it begins with 33 to 35 you would need WPW10218825 and if it begins with 36 or higher you would need WPW10218837. It6 sounds like you may have a connection issue between the control board and the control panel. You may want to verify that is a clip for the connection is present that it has been released before the ribbon cable was installed and pushed in after it was inserted. This sometimes corrects this complaint.

Brian for Model Number ADB1400PYB1

A little while ago my Amana dishwasher stopped doing heated drying and was overall not washing hot enough to clean well. We noticed the heating element in the bottom had broken. I ordered the element and replaced it according to the instructions, but it is still not heating. I'm concerned that whatever led to the element breaking may have caused some kind of surge elsewhere, causing damage electrically. I hate to just spend over $100 on the control board however with no idea if that part is problematic. Otherwise the appliance seems to function reasonably well ( has drained water poorly a few times lately but I think that was due to a grease buildup). Is there a common solution to this problem or a wiser means by which to diagnose it?

Brian, At the front of the tub underneath there will be a thermostat WP661566. You will want to test this thermostat for continuity. If there is no continuity then the thermostat is bad and needs replaced. If it checks good for continuity then the control board would be the issue with the unit.

Hello John, I'm sorry but it is impossible to say for sure if this will work or not since the manufacturer changes the parts and wiring configurations so much. I would strongly recommend using the recommended part 6-919819. If the part is not compatible, it could "shoot" other parts on your unit, costing you more than the savings on this part.

Hello Russ. You will need to make sure the door switches are good. If so, then the control panel is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit.
