Tonya for Model Number Samsung DW 7933LRASR/AA

We recently gutted and remodeled an old house. We purchased our Samsung dishwasher, installed it, and it sat in the kitchen for about 9 months before we moved in, in December. The dishwasher quit in February, displaying the heavy and the smart auto lights. According to the guide, this was a functional error. More specifically, an over-level water error. We turned the water and the breaker off Samsung sent someone out, 3 weeks later, and the guy turned the water on, I flipped the breaker, he hit start, and it ran completely through a short cycle. He said, "It's working," and left. Now, we have the same problem, and Samsung won't help. Is this fixable, or should we just buy a new dishwasher, that is not a Samsung?

My dishwasher has become unresponsive. There are no lights on the front panel that are lit up. There is no response when I push any of the buttons. This dishwasher has never had any problems. The power is fine going into the dishwasher, checked all that. Through my research it could be the door latch (seems to be fine), control panel, or control board, HELP. Do I need to order all three to figure out my problem part? I did get a recall on this model, but it has never really had any problem until now. Thank you

Hello Beth, You can verify the door switches WP99002751 with a test meter and remove and inspect the ribbon cable from the control panel. If it appears corroded, it will need to be cleaned with a dry pencil eraser and should only be rubbed with it toward the end of the ribbon cable to avoid damage to it. If excessive corrosion is noticed, check the vent seal WP99003222 for leaks. If the unit is sitting level with all four feet contacting the floor and secured properly to the cabinet, the door should be striking the cabinet front squarely and activating the door switches. The last suspect will be the control (WPW10218825 for series 35 and lower), (WPW10218837 for series 36 or higher). As a note, the series number is the first two digits of the serial number.

Water sometimes enters the unit. In test mode, I can cycle the water inlet valve once. After that I cannot and using meter, no voltage to the valve (or the inline float) or at the pin on the control board. Board replaced about 5 years ago by service man. Looks like I need a new board again. Do you agree? As an electrical engineer, I see that this valve is probably controlled by a solid state switch or SCR. Can I get a schematic of the board anywhere. I hate to spend $100+ for a $2 part and add to the landfill.

1 Answer

Dan, You would be correct that if there is no power to the pin at the board for the inlet valve when calling for water that the control board is defective. Unfortunately the schematic for the board is not available as this is not information that the manufacturer releases. Unless you are able to test the board and figure out which component has failed, the board would need to be replaced.

Hello John. Is sounds like either the control panel or the board is bad on the unit. Try holding the button to clear off the lock light. If it does not go away, and the button is good, replace the board. If the button is bad, you will need to replace the control panel.

Russ for Model Number Maytag quiet series 300

The dishwasher flooded our kitchen today. At first I thought the drain system was plugged but after I turned the breaker off to the dishwasher I noticed water was still be pumped into it. I closed the water supply valve, turned the breaker back on and then ran a rinse cycle and hit start twice to skip to the drain which worked. I then turned the water supply valve back on and it immediately started pumping water back in. I turned the breaker back off and tested it with the same result. We have had issues with the controls not responding recently and thought maybe it is a control board issue.

Hello Russ. Make sure there is no power to the valve. If not, you will need to replace the water valve on the unit.

The dishwasher stopped responding to keypad touches. After resetting the unit and hearing the unit cycle through different processes, all the lights stay on until hours later or until I kill the circuit breaker. Opening the door during the reset activities, the unit stops internal functions and there is evidence of water splashed on the side walls of the tub. So, I think both the door latch and pump work. What can I check next to fix this? Thanks

1 Answer

Hello Dan, This sounds like you should check the connection at the ribbon cable. If this doesn't correct the issue, replace the control panel W10810347.

Becky, With the unit having a flashing key, this issue would be caused by a stuck keypad on the control panel which would need to be replaced.

Was running a wash cycle today. Something was pinched in the door seal while running, causing water leaks on the floor from high in the door seal. Opened the door during the cycle, repositioned the item in the upper rack, closed the door, and after a long delay (minutes?) the washer started up again as expected. Sometime later, noticed that the lights on the control panel were all out, and none of the buttons cause any action (i.e. no lights). Circuit breaker did not trip. Latch switches test fine. There was condensation moisture inside the door near the circuit board. So, assuming that either the controller board or panel is bad. Are there any tests to figure out which one? Or should I just plan on buying both and returning something?
