The Control Board is an OEM part for Whirlpool dryers. It controls and regulates the dryer's various functions and cycles. The control board receives input from sensors and user controls, processes this information, and sends signals to different components such as the motor, heater, and drum to execute the desired drying operations.

Causes of a bad Control Board can include power surges, electrical shorts, or simply wear and tear over time.

Symptoms of a bad Control Board include:

  • The dryer not turning on or responding to user input
  • Erratic behavior or error codes displayed on the control panel
  • Individual components like the motor or heater not functioning properly
  • Unexplained shut-offs or resets during the drying cycle

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

Rob for Model Number mede300vfo

Dryer is 4 yrs old. Dryer will not start when start/pause button is pressed. I removed the tech sheet and went thru all dianostic test as outlined ;dryer passed all tests. The dryer works motor runs, heater works, door switch tested ok, thermisters, etc. but when you return to normal mode it doesn't start! By the way the when entering test mode dryer showed a F30 code which is obstructed air flow. I took the vent pipe off and ran the dryer in test mode and had good air flow. I am baffled. I think an electronic board issue, but I don't know which board is defective? Any suggestions?

Hello Rob, This sounds like the electronic control board WPW10174745 has a bad relay. The other board is a control circuit and this one is operating circuits. While it could be either board, this is the more common to fail in this manner.

Hello Sharon, There are 2 thermal fuses on this unit. One is on the duct assembly and one is located on near the heater assembly. Thermistor [AP3919451needs to be rechecked to make sure that it is not blown. If it is then you would also want to check your dryer venting to ensure proper air flow. This includes the blower wheel. The blower wheel can get lint on it causing it to not pull the moisture out of unit.
